Froch Mocks Ngannou’s Training Session – ‘He Looks Terrible’

In some recent boxing news, Carl Froch has reacted to Francis Ngannou’s training footage ahead of his fight with Tyson Fury.

Ngannou will make his boxing debut against Fury on October 28th, 2023, in a fight where the odds are heavily against him. But in order to give himself a chance of winning, Ngannou decided to hire Mike Tyson as his trainer and cornerman.

Thereafter, Tyson put Ngannou through his paces. In the following media workout, Ngannou was seen working on his jab under Tyson’s guidance. That got him the ridicule of Caleb Plant and John Fury, who did not hold back on their condemnation.

Ngannou’s Training

“That’s as awful as a jab can be,” Plant said

“Just seen Francis Ngannou and Mike Tyson and that so-called trainer what’s got the pads on, seen the open workout. I hope he’s kidding along and he’s playing possum here. I hope that’s a joke and intended to be a laugh. Because if it’s not, he ain’t got a prayer. He ain’t got a cat in hell’s chance. He won’t get out of the first round. It’s probably going to be Tyson’s quickest knockout.

“But you know what? It’s got to be kidology, that. It’s got to be full-on games. Because if that’s what he’s got — well, God help him, he’ll get smashed to bits. That’s all I’m saying, mate. That’s embarrassing. If that’s what he can do on a public workout, don’t bother doing a public workout. It’s a disgrace,” Fury stated

Froch On Ngannou

And now Froch has had his say on the matter. The former four-time world champion knows a thing or two about the sport of boxing and crossover fights.

Froch has called out Conor McGregor in the past even if there were question marks over the seriousness of it. Not only that, but Froch had even called out Jake Paul.

And yet, when it came to the Fury-Ngannou fight, Froch was very much against it. This was on the grounds that Froch wanted to see Fury face Oleksandr Usyk instead. However, since those comments, the undisputed fight has been signed.

That will be enough to satisfy the critics in the long term, but in the meantime, Froch has taken some shots at Ngannou.

“Listen, this is a f——- sparring session, probably the easiest spar he’s ever had. I don’t care that Ngannou can punch, a mule can kick really hard, but he’s never going to be able to line it up.

“Fury’s not going to be worried about getting hit by that monstrous punch because I’ve seen Ngannou on the pads and he looks terrible. He looks like what I’d expect a zero fight novice to look like; slow, awkward, stiff – how is he going to get near Fury? He’s going to get his head absolutely peppered off,” Froch

Ultimately, Fury and Ngannou are going to make the biggest paydays of their careers. And provided that they come out of the fight with not too much damage, then they won’t be preoccupied with what the critics have to say.
