Former UFC Fighter Mark Hunt Calls Dana White A ‘Worthless Mutt’ Following USADA’s Departure

In the latest MMA news, former UFC fighter Mark Hunt has slammed Dana White following the news that the UFC and USADA will no longer be working together.
The two organizations will part ways starting next year as Drug Free Sport International will replace USADA as the drug-testing organization moving forward. And yet, for Hunt, he felt that the timing of the whole spilt was profound.
Hunt expanded on how the news came after his lawsuit against the UFC had been dismissed. Hunt had alleged that White might have misled him into believing that Brock Lesnar was not using PEDs.
This was in relation to when Lesnar and Hunt fought at UFC 200. And given that Lesnar was given a USADA exemption, his win was then overturned following the failed tests. Hunt filed a lawsuit, but it was dismissed.
Meanwhile, Conor McGregor’s return has been impacted by the USADA requirement of athletes providing two negative samples over a six-month period before they can compete. And yet, the CEO of USADA, Travis Tygart, suggested that there may have been some resistance towards this.
USADA’s Response
“We have been clear and firm with the UFC that there should be no exception given by the UFC for McGregor to fight until he has returned two negative tests and been in the pool for at least six months. Despite a positive and productive meeting about a contract renewal in May 2023, the UFC did an about-face and informed USADA on Monday, October 9, that it was going in a different direction.
“We are disappointed for UFC athletes, who are independent contractors who rely on our independent, gold-standard global program to protect their rights to a clean, safe, and fair Octagon. The UFC’s move imperils the immense progress made within the sport under USADA’s leadership.
“The relationship between USADA and UFC became untenable given the statements made by UFC leaders and others questioning USADA’s principled stance that McGregor not be allowed to fight without being in the testing pool for at least six months,” USADA said
Hunt On White
With that being said, Hunt lashed out at White’s conduct with some damning words. He referred to the UFC CEO as a ‘s***bag gutterdog, a worthless mutt,” as the war of words escalated.
“I give you a year [Dana White and UFC] before you are no more. You can’t keep ripping fighters and their families off. The exodus from you criminals is already starting,” Hunt stated
Ultimately, any drug testing organization must remain independent in order to carry out the highest levels of testing. And if Drug Free Sport International can have the impact of doing that, then that can only be a good thing.
But given the response from USADA, there is more that needs to be done in order to set the narrative straight. So for now, the jury is out on whether Drug Free Sport International can work with the UFC for the benefit of all those concerned.
