Biography

Professional Career

Shigeoka began his professional journey on October 30, 2021, with a TKO victory against Manop Audomphanawari at Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan. He continued his winning streak with a unanimous decision against Lito Dante on December 10, 2021, also at Korakuen Hall. These early victories set the stage for his rapid ascent in the boxing world. In 2021, Shigeoka claimed the vacant Japanese Youth light-flyweight title with a TKO win over Ryu Horikawa on February 11. He further solidified his position by winning the vacant WBO Asia Pacific mini-flyweight title with a majority decision victory over Tsubasa Koura on November 12 at Korakuen Hall. This title defense showcased his ability to compete at a high level and against tough opponents.

Shigeoka’s career continued to flourish in 2022. On July 6, he defended his WBO Asia Pacific mini-flyweight title against Cris Ganoza, securing a KO victory in the third round at Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium. Later that year, he won the vacant Japanese mini-flyweight title by defeating Tatsuro Nakashima via a third-round KO on November 17 at Korakuen Hall.

In 2023, Shigeoka’s success reached new heights. He won the interim WBC mini-flyweight title with a seventh-round KO against Wilfredo Méndez on April 16 at Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo. He then captured the full WBC mini-flyweight title by defeating Panya Pradabsri via unanimous decision on October 7 at Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo. However, Shigeoka faced a significant setback on March 31, 2024, when he lost the WBC mini-flyweight title to Melvin Jerusalem by split decision at the International Conference Hall in Nagoya, Japan.
