Professional Career

 

Yesica Nery Plata began her professional journey on July 9, 2011, with a majority decision win over Estrella Valverde at Jose Cuervo Salon in Polanco. Plata quickly showcased her knockout power with a third-round TKO against Yazmin Marin on October 21, 2011, at Arena Adolfo López Mateos in Tlalnepantla. She continued her early success with a unanimous decision victory over Susy Kandy Sandoval on November 19, 2011, in Mexico City. In 2012, Plata secured the WBC Youth World Light Flyweight title with a split decision win against Ibeth Zamora Silva on April 21 at Estadio José Lerma Pérez in Ocoyoacac. She defended this title multiple times, including unanimous decision victories over Maria Guadalupe Bautista on July 7, 2012, and Karely Lopez Castro on September 1, 2012. Plata further demonstrated her skills with a third-round TKO win over Guadalupe Ramirez on November 24, 2012, at Foro Polanco in Mexico City.

 

Plata continued her winning streak into 2013, defending her WBC Youth World Light Flyweight title with victories over opponents like Yesenia Martinez Castrejon and Jasseth Noriega. On November 30, 2013, she won a unanimous decision against Alejandra Lopez at Centro de Convenciones IMSS in Tlalpan. Plata continued to build her reputation with a unanimous decision win over Maria Salinas on February 22, 2014, and another victory against Ana Cristina Vargas on June 28, 2014. Her career took a significant turn when she faced Esmeralda Moreno on August 1, 2015, at Auditorio del Bicentenario in Morelia. Despite a unanimous decision loss, Plata bounced back with a series of wins, including a unanimous decision against Anahi Torres on February 13, 2016, and a sixth-round RTD win over Yanely Ceja Hernandez on April 9, 2016. She continued her successful run with victories over Jasseth Noriega and Jazmin Ortega later that year.

 

In 2017, Plata captured the vacant WBF World Flyweight title with a unanimous decision win over Maria Magdalena Rivera on October 14 in Ocotlan. She faced a tough opponent in Kenia Stephanie Enriquez on November 18, 2017, in Ciudad Obregon, where she lost by unanimous decision. However, Plata quickly rebounded by winning the WBA Interim World Light Flyweight title with a split decision victory over Silvia Torres on April 14, 2018, in Tlalpan. Plata defended her WBA Interim World Light Flyweight title against Nancy Franco on August 4, 2018, and Alondra Garcia on March 9, 2019. She continued her winning ways with victories over Barbara Martinez Munoz on August 10, 2019, Edith de Jesus Flores on June 20, 2020, and Sandra Robles on September 12, 2020.

 

A significant milestone in Plata’s career came on March 11, 2022, when she won the WBA Super World Light Flyweight title with a split decision victory over Yesica Yolanda Bopp at Majestic Casino in Panama City. She then unified the WBA and WBC World Light Flyweight titles with a unanimous decision win over Kim Clavel on January 13, 2023, in Laval. Most recently, on December 16, 2023, Plata successfully defended her unified titles with a split decision victory over Sarah Bormann at Weihnachtscirkus in Karlsruhe.
