Professional Career
Wisaksil Wangek, better known as Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, has had a storied professional boxing career marked by significant accomplishments and remarkable resilience. He began his professional journey in 2009 and faced early setbacks with losses to notable fighters like Akira Yaegashi. However, Wangek’s determination soon paid off. He gained attention by winning the WBC super-flyweight title from Yota Sato on May 3, 2013, with a TKO victory in the eighth round.
Wangek’s first title defense was successful, but he lost the title to Carlos Cuadras in 2014 via a technical decision. Despite this, he continued to fight and rebuilt his career, eventually regaining the WBC super-flyweight title in a stunning fashion. On March 18, 2017, Wangek defeated the then-undefeated Román González by majority decision at Madison Square Garden. He solidified his dominance in the division with a knockout victory over González in their rematch on September 9, 2017, retaining the WBC title and winning the inaugural The Ring super-flyweight title.
In 2018, Wangek defended his titles against Juan Francisco Estrada in a closely contested match, winning by majority decision. However, in their rematch on April 26, 2019, Wangek lost both the WBC and The Ring titles to Estrada by unanimous decision. Following this defeat, Wangek continued to compete, achieving significant victories such as his TKO win over Amnat Ruenroeng in August 2020 and a TKO win against Pipat Chaiporn in March 2023. His resilience was further demonstrated with consecutive wins over various opponents, culminating in his recent unanimous decision victories over Eaktwan BTU Ruaviking in May 2023 and Luan Guangheng in February 2024.
