Biography

Professional Career

Shohjahon Ergashev, a formidable force in the junior welterweight division, began his professional boxing career with a bang on December 23, 2015, by securing a first-round TKO victory over Arzu Aliev at Volta Club in Moscow, Russia. This impressive debut set the tone for Ergashev’s career, characterized by his powerful punching and aggressive fighting style.

Ergashev quickly built an impressive record, showcasing his knockout power in successive bouts across Russia. He notched a series of first-round victories, including against Magomed Aldaganov and Dmitriy Antipov. By February 2018, Ergashev had captured the vacant WBA International super-lightweight title with a unanimous decision win over Zhimin Wang at Barclays Center in New York City. This victory marked his arrival on the international stage and solidified his reputation as a rising star in the division.

Throughout 2018 and 2019, Ergashev continued to dominate, securing notable wins against opponents such as Sonny Fredrickson, Zack Ramsey, and Mykal Fox. His ability to end fights early remained a hallmark of his style, with many bouts concluding within the first few rounds. In January 2020, Ergashev added another impressive win to his record by knocking out Adrian Estrella in the first round at WinnaVegas Casino Resort in Sloan, Iowa.

Ergashev’s career momentum continued with victories over Salimu Jengo and Aekkawee Kaewmanee in 2021, both by knockout. On August 10, 2022, he faced Angel Martinez Hernandez, winning by TKO in the fifth round at the Garden Theater in Detroit, Michigan. This string of victories set the stage for his challenge for the IBF junior welterweight title on November 25, 2023, against Subriel Matías. Despite a strong start, Ergashev’s corner stopped the bout after the fifth round, marking his first professional loss. Bouncing back from the setback, Ergashev demonstrated his resilience and determination by securing a first-round knockout victory over Juan Huertas on March 28, 2024, at Wayne State Fieldhouse in Detroit, Michigan.
