Biography
Professional Career
Lipinets began his professional journey on April 25, 2014, with a unanimous decision victory over Franklin Varela at Krylatskoye Sports Palace in Moscow, Russia. He quickly established himself as a formidable force in the ring, securing his first knockout win against Dzemil Cosovic on May 30, 2014, also in Moscow. Building momentum, Lipinets continued his winning streak with a series of impressive performances. He claimed the vacant WBC International Silver light-welterweight title by defeating Ernie Sanchez via knockout in the eighth round on November 28, 2014, at Luzhniki Palace of Sports in Moscow. His success continued in the United States, where he won the vacant WBC Latino light-welterweight title by stopping Cosme Rivera in the ninth round on March 13, 2015, in Tampa, Florida.
Lipinets’ career reached a pinnacle on November 4, 2017, when he won the vacant IBF light-welterweight title by defeating Akihiro Kondo via unanimous decision at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. However, his reign as champion was short-lived, as he lost the title to Mikey Garcia on March 10, 2018, at Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas, in a highly competitive bout that went the distance. Despite the setback, Lipinets demonstrated resilience and continued to compete at a high level. He secured notable victories over Lamont Peterson and Jayar Inson, the former being a TKO win on March 24, 2019, at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland, which showcased his ability to perform in high-stakes matches. Lipinets then faced Custio Clayton for the IBF interim welterweight title on October 24, 2020, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut, resulting in a majority draw.
In 2021, Lipinets faced one of his toughest opponents, Jaron Ennis, at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Despite a valiant effort, he was knocked out in the sixth round. Lipinets bounced back with a victory over Omar Figueroa Jr. on August 20, 2022, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida, where Figueroa retired in the eighth round. However, his career faced another setback when he lost to Michel Rivera via unanimous decision on November 25, 2023, at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.
