Ra’eese Aleem, born on June 21, 1990, in Muskegon, Michigan, experienced a challenging yet formative early life that prepared him for future success in boxing. Growing up in a tough neighborhood, Aleem faced numerous obstacles that instilled a deep-seated determination to overcome adversity. This determination found a natural outlet in boxing, a sport he turned to for its discipline and the sense of purpose it offered. Aleem’s boxing journey began relatively late; he did not start training until his late teens. However, his natural talent and work ethic quickly became apparent once he joined a local boxing gym in Muskegon. Professional Career
His professional journey began on September 10, 2011, when he secured his first professional win against Dewaun Bell with a second-round TKO at the Civic Center in Holland, Michigan. Aleem continued his winning streak with victories over opponents like DeWayne Wisdom, Delano Kealohapauole, and DeVonte Allen, demonstrating his prowess in the ring. By November 29, 2014, Aleem had accumulated a record of 5–0 with a unanimous decision victory over Carl Currie at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana. He maintained his momentum with wins against Antoine Knight and Jose Silveria in 2015. In 2016, Aleem further solidified his reputation with victories over Stephon McIntyre and DeWayne Wisdom, showcasing his dominance and technical skills.
Aleem’s ascent continued in 2018 with a unanimous decision win over Marcus Bates at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Later that year, he defeated Alcides Santiago and Derrick Wilson, both by stoppage, proving his ability to end fights decisively. His 2019 campaign was highlighted by a TKO victory over Ramiro Robles in the first round at the 2300 Arena, Philadelphia. In 2020, Aleem’s career reached new heights as he defeated Adam Lopez by TKO in the fourth round on February 14 at the 2300 Arena. He continued his impressive run by securing another TKO victory over Marcus Bates in the tenth round on August 1 at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Montville, Connecticut.
Aleem’s remarkable performance earned him the WBA interim super bantamweight title on January 23, 2021, when he defeated Vic Pasillas by TKO in the eleventh round at the Mohegan Sun Arena. He followed up this success by winning the vacant NABO super bantamweight title against Eduardo Baez on November 27, 2021, at Park MGM in Paradise, Nevada, through a majority decision. In 2022, Aleem defended his NABO super bantamweight title against Mike Plania with a unanimous decision victory on September 4 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, U.S. However, his winning streak came to an end on June 17, 2023, when he suffered his first professional loss against Sam Goodman by split decision after twelve hard-fought rounds at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gold Coast, Australia.
