Professional Career
Nordine Oubaali, a French bantamweight boxer of Moroccan descent, began his professional career with a bang on March 20, 2014, securing a unanimous decision victory over Sergey Tasimov in Marrakech, Morocco. His early career saw a series of decisive wins, characterized by his aggressive style and knockout power. By the end of 2014, he had already amassed a series of victories, including a first-round TKO against Norredine Dahou in October and a unanimous decision win over Faycal Messaoudene in November.
Oubaali’s rise in the bantamweight division continued as he captured the vacant French bantamweight title with a first-round KO against Hassan Azaouagh on May 2, 2015. His winning streak persisted as he defeated a string of opponents, including a first-round TKO over Mihaly Telekfi and another first-round stoppage against Gagi Edisherashvili in 2015. By 2016, Oubaali had claimed the WBA Inter-Continental bantamweight title by defeating Julio César Miranda with a 12th-round TKO, solidifying his position as a rising star in the division.
Oubaali’s career reached new heights when he won the vacant WBC bantamweight title on January 19, 2019, with a unanimous decision victory over Rau’shee Warren at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada. He successfully defended his title against top contenders, including Arthur Villanueva, whom he defeated by RTD in the sixth round in July 2019, and Takuma Inoue, whom he outclassed in a unanimous decision win in November 2019. However, Oubaali faced a significant setback on May 29, 2021, when he lost his WBC bantamweight title to Nonito Donaire by a fourth-round KO at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. This defeat was followed by another loss to Ricardo Martinez by split decision on April 29, 2023, in Douai, France, marking a challenging period in his career.
