Professional Career
Mayer made her professional debut on August 5, 2017, with a first-round knockout victory over Widnelly Figueroa at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. This debut set the tone for her career, showcasing her power and skill in the ring. Mayer’s early career saw a series of decisive wins, including knockout victories over Allison Martinez and Maria Semertzoglou, and a memorable TKO win against Edina Kiss. These performances quickly propelled her into the spotlight, highlighting her as a rising star in women’s boxing. By October 2018, Mayer had claimed the vacant WBC-NABF female super featherweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Vanessa Bradford, a title she would go on to defend successfully multiple times.
One of Mayer’s significant milestones came on October 31, 2020, when she won the vacant WBO female super featherweight title by defeating Ewa Brodnicka via unanimous decision at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Paradise, Nevada. Mayer’s dominance in the super featherweight division continued as she successfully defended her title against Érica Farías and Jennifer Han. Her victory over Maïva Hamadouche on November 5, 2021, not only retained her WBO title but also earned her the IBF and inaugural The Ring super featherweight titles, solidifying her position as one of the top fighters in her division.
However, Mayer faced a significant challenge on October 15, 2022, when she fought Alycia Baumgardner at the O2 Arena in London, England. In a closely contested bout, Mayer lost by split decision, resulting in her losing the WBO, IBF, and The Ring female super featherweight titles. Despite this setback, Mayer’s resilience shone through as she bounced back with a victory over Lucy Wildheart on April 15, 2023, claiming the vacant WBC interim lightweight title. Mayer continued her winning streak with a unanimous decision victory over Silvia Bortot on September 2, 2023, at the Manchester Arena in England. However, on January 20, 2024, she faced Natasha Jonas for the IBF female welterweight title at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. In a hard-fought match, Mayer lost by split decision, marking another challenging moment in her career.
