Professional Career
Browne made his professional debut in November 2012 with a third-round TKO victory over Codale Ford, quickly establishing himself as a powerful and aggressive fighter. His early career saw a series of dominant performances, including first-round knockouts against Paul Vasquez and George Blades, showcasing his knockout power and boxing skills. In April 2016, Browne captured the vacant WBC USNBC light heavyweight title with a split decision win over Radivoje Kalajdzic at the Barclays Center in New York City. This victory marked a turning point in his career, propelling him into higher-profile fights. Browne continued to build on his success with notable wins over Thomas Williams Jr. and Sean Monaghan, both of which ended in early stoppages and further demonstrated his punching prowess.
One of the highlights of Browne’s career came in January 2019 when he faced former world champion Badou Jack. Browne delivered a strong performance, winning by unanimous decision to claim the WBA interim and WBC Silver light heavyweight titles. This victory solidified his status as one of the top contenders in the light heavyweight division and set the stage for even more significant opportunities. However, Browne’s career also faced challenges. In August 2019, he suffered his first professional loss to Jean Pascal in a bout for the WBA interim and WBC Silver light heavyweight titles. The fight was stopped in the eighth round due to an accidental headbutt, and Pascal was awarded the victory via technical decision. Browne bounced back with a unanimous decision win over Denis Grachev in April 2021, demonstrating his resilience and determination to remain a top contender.
Browne’s career reached another pivotal moment in December 2021 when he challenged Artur Beterbiev for the WBC and IBF light-heavyweight titles. Despite a valiant effort, Browne was knocked out in the ninth round, marking the second loss of his career. This fight underscored the high level of competition in the division and the challenges Browne faced in his pursuit of championship glory.
