Biography
Early Life and Amateur Career
Lindolfo Delgado was born on December 31, 1994, in Linares, Nuevo León, Mexico. Growing up in a small town with limited resources, Delgado discovered boxing as a way to channel his energy and aspirations. From an early age, he showed a natural talent for the sport, quickly gaining recognition in local boxing circuits. His family’s support and his own dedication to training laid the groundwork for what would become an impressive amateur career.
Delgado’s rise in amateur boxing was marked by numerous achievements on national and international stages. One of his early significant accomplishments came in 2012 when he won a gold medal at the Mexican National Championships. This victory established him as one of Mexico’s top amateur boxers and earned him a spot on the national team. His success continued, and in 2014, he claimed another gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico, further solidifying his reputation as a rising star in the sport.
In 2016, Delgado represented Mexico at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, competing in the lightweight division. Although he did not medal, his participation in the Olympics was a significant milestone in his career, providing him with invaluable experience against some of the world’s best amateur boxers. His Olympic journey showcased his skill, determination, and the ability to compete at the highest level. Lindolfo Delgado made his professional boxing career with an impressive debut on April 9, 2017, where he secured a third-round TKO victory over Luis Ángel Silva at The Novo at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California. This early success set the tone for his professional journey, marked by his powerful punches and technical proficiency. Delgado quickly gained a reputation for his ability to finish fights early, a trait that would define much of his career.
Throughout 2017 and 2018, Delgado continued to build his undefeated record with a series of dominant performances. On July 22, 2017, he demonstrated his knockout power by defeating Gerson Escobar with a first-round TKO at Lienzo Charro Parral in Parral, Mexico. By the end of 2018, Delgado had already amassed a perfect 7-0 record, including a notable sixth-round TKO victory over Luis Humberto Moreno on October 20 at the Centro de Convenciones in Cozumel, Mexico. These victories showcased his growing prowess and established him as a rising star in the lightweight division.
Delgado’s momentum continued into 2019, where he faced and defeated increasingly challenging opponents. On March 16, 2019, he delivered a stunning first-round KO against James Roach at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This win was followed by a third-round TKO victory over Eduardo Cordovez on June 1, 2019, at the Gimnasio Municipal del Pueblo Mágico in Linares, Mexico. One of Delgado’s significant victories came on September 28, 2019, when he knocked out Jesus Zazueta Anaya in the sixth round at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
