Professional Career

Sasaki made his professional debut on August 24, 2018, where he secured a technical knockout against Tsuyoshi Kato at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Sasaki has shown remarkable power and skill in the welterweight division. From the outset, Sasaki demonstrated his potential with consecutive victories, quickly establishing himself as a promising fighter in the Japanese boxing scene. His early fights were characterized by overwhelming force, as seen in his knockouts against opponents like Ryo Kasai and Naoyuki Tsumoto, showcasing his ability to deliver decisive blows early in matches. This trend of early victories by knockout continued as he progressed, underlining his growing reputation as a powerful puncher.

A significant milestone in Sasaki’s career was his victory over Aso Ishiwaki on December 26, 2020, where he won the vacant Japanese Youth super lightweight title by TKO in the third round. This win not only highlighted his dominance but also his potential for greater challenges. Sasaki’s ability to maintain momentum was briefly challenged in October 2021, when he faced Andy Hiraoka for the vacant Japanese and WBO Asia Pacific super lightweight titles. Sasaki suffered his first professional loss via a TKO in the eleventh round, a pivotal moment that tested his resilience and determination.

However, Sasaki rebounded impressively from this setback. He moved up in weight and captured the vacant WBO Asia Pacific welterweight title with a first-round TKO victory over Ryota Toyoshima in January 2023. He then successfully defended this title multiple times, showcasing not only his power but also his improved technique and ring IQ. Notable defenses included a third-round TKO against Keita Obara and an eleventh-round TKO against Hiroto Hoshi, solidifying his reputation as a force in the welterweight division.

His most recent fight on May 16, 2024, against Joe Noynay, was another significant victory where he not only retained the WBO Asia Pacific welterweight title but also captured the vacant OPBF welterweight title. Sasaki’s ability to dispatch a tough opponent in Noynay via a fifth-round TKO further affirmed his status as one of the top contenders in the region.
