Professional Career
Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela began his professional boxing career on July 24, 2015, with a debut victory over Alejandro Eston at the Arena Jalisco in Guadalajara. Valenzuela, weighing 145¼ pounds, secured a TKO win in the first round, showcasing his powerful striking ability right from the start. This promising beginning set the stage for a career that would see numerous victories and notable fights.
In the following years, Valenzuela built a solid record through a series of impressive performances. On March 12, 2016, he faced Angel Escamilla, winning by unanimous decision over six rounds at the Arena Jalisco. Valenzuela continued his winning streak with another unanimous decision against Juan Sanchez Haro on July 15, 2016. However, he faced his first professional setback on December 10, 2016, when he lost to Luis Hernandez Ramos via TKO in the fourth round at Domo del Parque San Rafael in Guadalajara.
Despite the loss, Valenzuela bounced back with determination. On March 25, 2017, he faced the unbeaten William Zepeda Segura and lost by unanimous decision, but he quickly returned to form with a majority decision win over Fabian Diaz Grano on June 10, 2017. He continued to rack up victories throughout 2017, including wins over Luis Fernando Ulloa and Jose de Alba, demonstrating his resilience and ability to learn from setbacks.
In 2018, Valenzuela’s career continued to gain momentum. He fought Miguel Angel Vazquez Bautista on February 10, securing a TKO victory in the fifth round. He also faced Jessie Wilcox in Toronto on April 18, a fight that ended in a majority draw, showcasing his ability to compete internationally. Valenzuela finished the year strong with a unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Vargas on October 27 and a knockout win against Juan Carlos Castillo Torres on December 8, both at the Domo del Parque San Rafael in Guadalajara.
Valenzuela’s upward trajectory continued in 2019 with several impressive wins, including a TKO victory over Francisco Javier Perez on March 9 and a KO win against Nery Saguilan on July 13, where he claimed the vacant WBC FECARBOX Super Light title. His success in these bouts highlighted his increasing skill and confidence in the ring. In 2020, Valenzuela continued to prove his mettle with a unanimous decision win over Edwin Bennett on September 18. A significant highlight of his career came on February 20, 2021, when he faced Robbie Davies Jr. at Wembley Arena. Valenzuela won by majority decision, claiming the vacant IBF Inter-Continental Super Light title. This victory was notable for Davies Jr.’s knockdown in the third round and Valenzuela’s point deduction in the fourth for hitting on the break.
Valenzuela faced a tough challenge on May 7, 2022, against Montana Love at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Although he lost by unanimous decision, the fight was highly competitive, with both fighters experiencing knockdowns. Valenzuela’s resilience and competitive spirit were on full display. In 2023, Valenzuela achieved a significant victory against Yves Ulysse Jr. on February 2, winning by TKO in the first round. He followed this with a split decision win over Steve Spark on May 6 and a KO victory against Yeis Gabriel Solano on September 30. These wins underscored his ability to perform against high-caliber opponents and solidified his reputation as a formidable contender in the super lightweight division.
