Professional Career
Rodriguez began his professional journey on November 9, 2018, with a third-round TKO win over Valentin Juan Ortiz Hernandez at the Big Punch Arena in Tijuana, Mexico. This debut set the stage for Rodriguez’s explosive style and power in the ring. Rodriguez quickly made a name for himself with a series of knockout victories. He demonstrated his formidable punching power with wins over Kevin Alfonso Luna at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and Jesus Gonzalez at the Banc of California Stadium, both ending in early knockouts. However, a technical draw against Joaquin Chávez on June 28, 2019, at Pechanga Resort & Casino temporarily halted his momentum, though he quickly returned to winning form.
The year 2020 was particularly significant for Rodriguez, as he fought multiple times at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Paradise, Nevada. He secured four consecutive knockouts against opponents such as Danny Murray, Dennis Okoth, Cody Wilson, and Cameron Krael. These performances showcased Rodriguez’s ability to maintain a high knockout ratio, establishing him as a rising star in the super lightweight division. In 2021, Rodriguez faced a challenging bout against Kenneth Sims Jr. on May 22 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. In a closely contested fight, Rodriguez suffered his first professional loss by majority decision, competing for the vacant WBC-USNBC super lightweight title. Despite this setback, Rodriguez bounced back with a knockout victory over Juan Pablo Romero on November 6, 2021, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, reaffirming his resilience and determination.
Rodriguez continued his winning streak into 2022 and 2023, with notable victories over Juan Jose Velasco and Joseph Adorno. On March 26, 2022, he knocked out Velasco in the seventh round at the Minneapolis Armory, and on February 25, 2023, he secured a majority decision win over Adorno at the same venue. These victories highlighted Rodriguez’s ability to overcome tough competition and maintain his position as a top contender. On July 15, 2023, Rodriguez faced the seasoned Viktor Postol at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. In a defining moment of his career, Rodriguez secured a TKO victory in the seventh round, further solidifying his reputation as a formidable puncher.
