Biography

Professional Career

Antonio Moran’s professional boxing career began on March 8, 2012, with a second-round knockout victory over Angel Pasaran at Jose Cuervo Salon in Polanco, Mexico. Moran’s power and skill were evident from the start, as he continued to build an impressive early record with wins over opponents like Alejandro Gomez and Martin Perez. His ability to secure decisive victories established him as a rising talent in the Mexican boxing scene. Moran’s early career was marked by a series of dominant performances. In 2013, he maintained his unbeaten streak with unanimous decision wins over Brandon Perez Morillon and Rodolfo Uriel Contreras, demonstrating his technical prowess and endurance. He continued to showcase his knockout power with stoppage victories against Juan Natanael Hernandez and Mario Herrera, cementing his reputation as a formidable competitor in the lightweight division.

As Moran’s career progressed, he faced increasingly challenging opponents. He won the WBO Latino lightweight title with a TKO victory over Jose Guadalupe Rosales in July 2017 and defended it successfully against Salvador Briceno later that year. However, he encountered setbacks, such as a unanimous decision loss to Jose Pedraza in June 2018 and a knockout defeat to Devin Haney in May 2019. Despite these challenges, Moran demonstrated resilience and continued to compete at a high level. He secured a split decision draw against Yomar Alamo in October 2019 and bounced back with knockout victories over Luis Solis and Emanuel Colon in 2020. Moran’s determination and skill kept him in contention for major titles, and he continued to pursue opportunities in the highly competitive light welterweight division.

In recent years, Moran faced tough competition, including a unanimous decision loss to Arnold Barboza Jr. in August 2021. He rebounded with victories over Jeffrey Torres and Michael Dutchover in 2022, showing his ability to adapt and succeed against quality opponents. Moran’s most recent notable win came on January 31, 2024, when he knocked out Romero Duno in the sixth round at the Whitesands Events Center in Plant City.
