Professional Career
Starting his career on April 28, 2018, with a fourth-round TKO against Artur Mueller at the Baden-Arena in Offenburg, Germany, Baraou quickly set a tone of dominance and technical skill. Within a short span, Baraou claimed the German light-middleweight title on June 2, 2018, with a unanimous decision win over Denis Krieger. His momentum didn’t stop there; he retained his title and continued to climb the ranks, earning the WBC International light-middleweight title with a unanimous decision victory against Carlos Molina on February 16, 2019, showcasing his ability to perform consistently over longer bouts.
Baraou’s career trajectory continued upward with several more TKO victories, including notable wins against Ali Funeka and Abdelghani Saber, before a significant bout against John O’Donnell on October 26, 2019, at The O2 Arena in London, where he retained his WBC International title. This series of victories solidified his reputation as a strong contender in the division.
However, Baraou faced his first professional setback on August 28, 2020, when he lost by split decision to Jack Culcay. This loss was a pivotal moment, testing his resilience and determination. Despite this, Baraou bounced back impressively, capturing the IBO Continental light-middleweight title with a TKO win against Brian Damian Chaves on March 19, 2022, at the Tempodrom in Berlin. Continuing his comeback, Baraou went on to secure a series of wins, culminating in capturing the vacant EBU European light-middleweight title on March 1, 2024, with a majority decision over Sam Eggington at the Telford International Centre in England. He successfully defended this title on June 14, 2024, against Macaulay McGowan, showcasing his skill and tactical acumen.
