Fans Worried After McGregor Downs Another Beer – ‘Bro Ain’t Fighting Again’

Conor McGregor once again raised concerns over his fight preparation after he was spotted drinking a beer.

McGregor is currently preparing for his next fight, which is expected to be against Michael Chandler. A fight was agreed for June 29. However, McGregor withdrew with a broken toe. There are now conflicting reports over whether McGregor will fight this year.

Dana White initially said no before backtracking to say he could not rule it out after McGregor’s plea on social media. The delay means McGregor has not had a UFC fight since losing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. The defeat resulted in a broken leg, taking his record to three losses out of his last four UFC bouts. In the run-up to the Chandler fight, McGregor stated that he would be going sober.

“Forged Irish Stout, ladies and gentlemen. Look at the cream on that. That’s unbelievable, folks. I’ve been off the drink. I’ve been off my beautiful products since the 10-week mark. So, we are five weeks and five days out. I’m taking this seriously,” McGregor said

McGregor’s Drinking

However, he appears to have broken that word, as the following picture shows. The picture shows McGregor drinking at his sister Erin McGregor’s wedding to Terry Kavanagh. While it is a special occasion, McGregor’s failure to keep himself disciplined could cost him in the future.

The delay has also impacted Chandler. He has not had a UFC fight since losing to Poirier in 2022 at UFC 281. He has been waiting for the McGregor fight since their days as rival coaches on the TUF 31 series. Chandler could have taken fights in between to remain active. However, he chose to wait for the McGregor fight in the hope of a bigger payday. But there was talk over an Islam Makhachev fight.

Chandler’s Regret

That fight would give Chandler a chance to win the lightweight title. It also keeps him active and makes the McGregor fight that much bigger. Although McGregor has two fights left on his UFC deal, there is no guarantee that he will come back. Chandler is also 38, meaning he is at the tail end of his career. Matt Brown felt Chandler would regret waiting around for McGregor since he could have earned more money and improved his legacy.

“In my view, you only live once and this is a short window of time in your life that you get to compete at the highest level. I think he’s going to look back when he’s 50, 60 years old and be like, ‘I missed out on a couple of years there just waiting for a payday.’ [And] I don’t think he’s hurting for money anyways. [But], ‘I waited for this payday and I could have been out there putting myself on the line.’ I think Michael Chandler’s a competitor. I think he wants to be out there putting it on the line. I think he’s going to end up regretting this someday,” Brown stated
