Fans Slam UFC 312 Card - 'I'll Be Sleeping Through This'

Dricus du Plessis vs. Sean Strickland will headline UFC 312, but fans are unhappy with the full card.

The fight is set to take place at UFC 312 on February 8. It will occur from the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia. It is a rematch of their UFC 297 fight. Du Plessis defeated Strickland to end the latter’s reign as the UFC Middleweight Champion. It was the first defense of Strickland’s belt, which he won after beating Israel Adesanya at UFC 293. Du Plessis followed that win up by upsetting Adesanya at UFC 305. He submitted Izzy in the fourth round to retain his belt. He was linked with a fight against Alex Pereira, but Strickland got the nod. Strickland is also in good form, having beaten Paulo Costa in his last fight at UFC 302.

In the co-main event, UFC Strawweight Champion Zhang Weili puts her belt on the line against Tatiana Suarez. It is the third time she will defend her belt. She picked up the title after having overcome Carla Esparza at UFC 281. She made a successful defense of the belt, beating Amanda Lemos at UFC 292 and Yan Xiaonan at UFC 300. Suarez has not lost in her last ten fights. But she is not the most active fighter, with her last fight taking place in 2023. That is when she defeated Jessica Andrade. Fans, though, were not impressed with the full card

Announcement

“UFC’s return to Sydney is another step in us delivering on this election commitment. Last year’s event was a huge success and we expect next year’s event will match that, showcasing Sydney on the global stage as a top destination for sporting events. We are continuing to secure a calendar of unmissable events that help local businesses and create jobs, and that’s exactly what these UFC events do,” Chris Minns (New South Wales Premier)

“Sydney, Australia – the Octagon is coming back this summer. Get ready for another cracking event at Qudos Bank Arena, featuring the best local and international UFC athletes. We value the support from our event partners Destination NSW and hope to deliver another record-breaking result, building off the success of UFC 293 in September 2023,” Peter Kloczko (UFC Vice President Australia and New Zealand)

Fan Reaction

“Underrated bangers. This would be an all-time fight night. No disrespect, but Tafa as a featured fight on a PPV and Jake Matthews on a main card of a PPV in 2025 is insane. Compete this with UFC 311. Anybody saying this is a great PPV card is trying too hard to be a diehard,” One fan said

“Favorite for the worst card of the year already,” another stated
