Fans Slam Tank Davis’ Resume – ‘Has The Resume Of A Child’

Gervonta Davis has hit out at a boxing fan who criticized his resume.
Davis is the WBA Lightweight Champion, a belt he defended successfully after stopping Frank Martin in his last fight. His biggest win was a stoppage victory against Ryan Garcia last year. That fight had some question marks over it, as Garcia argued that the 136-pound catchweight and ten-pound rehydration clause had drained him. Davis has shown a reluctance to face the biggest names, as he has been linked with several bouts, only for them to not materialize.
He was linked with a fight against Devin Haney during their time at 135 pounds. Haney would become the Undisputed Lightweight Champion before vacating the title to move up to 140 pounds. Haney then won the WBC Junior Welterweight title and called out Davis for a fight. Davis has previously moved up to 140 pounds when he boxed Mario Barrios before stopping him. However, Davis has not shown any enthusiasm for taking that fight.
Davis’ Options
Stevenson is another name who has been mentioned at 135 pounds. Shakur is the WBC Lightweight Champion, a vacant title he secured after beating Edwin De Los Santos to become a three-weight world champ. Stevenson has repeatedly called for the Davis fight. However, Tank’s camp has also shown reluctance towards it. They initially stated that Shakur offers no commercial value since he is not a big ticket seller, only to backtrack to state that a fight would happen later.
Another name mentioned was Teofimo Lopez. The Takeover was a former Unified Lightweight Champion before he lost to George Kambosos Jr. After the Kambosos defeat, Lopez moved up to 140 pounds. He defeated Josh Taylor to become the Junior Welterweight Champion, making him a two-weight world champ. The Takeover has called out Davis for a fight, but once again, it is not any closer to being made.
Is Davis Ducking?
Davis was also linked with the fight against Vasiliy Lomachenko. Loma is a three-weight world champion who beat Kambosos in his last fight to become the IBF champion. However, there is a perception that Lomachenko is no longer the same fighter who was dominating the sport. He is now 36 years old and has suffered recent losses against Haney and Lopez. The Ukrainian’s team confirmed that Lomachenko had no motivation for taking that fight, meaning that it is unlikely to happen.
But Davis was linked to the Lomachenko fight throughout his career, raising suggestions that he ducked him and only waited until he entered the latter stages of his career. There is also the perception that Davis imposes rehydration clauses against his opponents. Garcia and Barrios used this argument, as they would eventually get stopped. Davis’ next opponent is Lamont Roach Jr., who will move up from 130 pounds. That is seen as a routine win for Davis. That has raised a lot of criticism, resulting in Davis hitting back.
“Gervonta Tank Davis @Gervontaa will turn 30 in about two weeks and…has the resume of a child,” an observer said
“Now let’s talk about how you finish school and all that for you to work for someone and now they dictate when you wake up and go to sleep..lol I’ll pick my life over ya life any day..loser,” Davis stated
