Fans have reacted to Oleksandr Usyk’s latest training session, as the Ukrainian is back in the gym.

The unified heavyweight champion vacated his WBO belt rather than facing Fabio Wardley, as questions remained over his next steps. The decision meant he was no longer undisputed, having become so for the second time at heavyweight, following his stoppage win over Daniel Dubois in his last fight in June 2025.

Usyk took time off after the Dubois win to recover from a back injury. The champ has distanced himself from a third fight with Tyson Fury, despite the latter coming out of retirement. His main focus is a fight with Deontay Wilder. Usyk’s manager, Egis Klimas, recently confirmed that the team is steering away from Saudi-backed Riyadh Season events for this specific bout, instead negotiating with an American promoter to bring Usyk to the U.S. for the first time since 2019.

Judah Reacts

Shelly Finkel, Wilder’s manager, described the current talks as “very promising,” while Wilder has been vocal on social media about facing Usyk. Usyk has been transparent about his future, stating he plans to compete for roughly two more years before retiring at age 40. The Wilder fight serves as the gateway to a multi-fight deal in North America. Despite his age (38) and the 2025 injury layoff, training footage released this week shows the unified champion appearing as light on his feet as ever. While Usyk would be a big favorite against Wilder, Zab Judah still gives Deontay a chance.

“Wilder better go get that [fight]. For real, Deontay has got to train, he has got to train for that and don’t skip leg day. Gotta hit leg day and all of that, everything. If Deontay Wilder can go in there and get it right, he can make that fight a more competitive and interesting fight than a lot of people are expecting, trust me. Wilder has still got something in there. He still can crack. As long as he got that f***ing right hand [he has a chance], that [power] is the last thing to go,” Judah said
