Fans React To Angel Fierro’s Withdrawal

Fans have reacted to the news that Angel Fierro has pulled out of his all-Mexican rematch against Isaac Cruz, which was set to take place on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Mario Barrios card.
The duo were going to run things back following their first fight in February, which Cruz won by a unanimous decision. That was Cruz’s second win out of his last three fights, which was the perfect response after losing his WBA 140-belt against Jose Valenzuela in his first defense. Cruz has been linked with a fight against Keyshawn Davis after suggestions the latter will move up to 140.
Fierro was not been in the best form. The Cruz loss was his second out of his last three, taking his record to 23-3-2. His last win was against Eleazar Valenzuela Carrillo last year via a fifth-round stoppage. He had the chance to put the Cruz loss behind him on the biggest stage. However, this will not be the case. Reports indicate he was taken to hospital after he suffered form health issues while trying to cut weight.
“Angel Fierro has been forced to withdraw from Saturday’s rematch with Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, sources told The Ring’s @MikeCoppinger. Fierro is headed to a hospital for observation after he encountered health issues during his weight cut. The 140lbs fight was scheduled for the Manny Pacquiao vs Mario Barrios PPV undercard in Las Vegas. Unclear at this time if Cruz will remain on the card against a replacement opponent,” The Ring
With the fight off, Omar Salcido is set to take on Cruz. Salcido, who last fought in January 2025, suffered a unanimous decision loss to Andy Cruz. Prior to that, Salcido earned a stoppage victory over Chris Colbert in October 2024, stopping him in nine rounds. Naturally, Cruz will have to avoid slipping up given the last-minute change of opponent.
