Fans Predict Scull vs. Shishkin Winner Ahead Of IBF Title Clash

Fans have had their say on who will win between William Scull and Vladimir Shishkin ahead of their vacant IBF Super Middleweight Title clash on Saturday.

The two men know there is an undisputed title shot on the line, with the winner in position to face Canelo Alvarez next. Scull arrives in the fight as an unbeaten 22-0 boxer. Most of his wins have gone the distance, with only nine knockouts to his name. His last stoppage win was against Deneb Diaz in 2021. But he has plenty to prove this time around.

He can follow in the footsteps of Yordenis Ugas and Guillermo Rigondeaux, the Cubans who became world champions. He has what it takes as he worked himself into the IBF mandatory position to face Canelo. The IBF made the order, but Canelo chose to face Edgar Berlanga instead. The Berlanga fight was seen as a bigger one since Scull had no titles. But if he can win the IBF belt, he has a better chance of persuading Canelo to face him, as he relished the chance to fight for the title.

“It’s a dream come true to be able to fight Vladimir Shishkin for the world title on October 19 after so many years of waiting. It means a lot to me because it has been my dream since I was a child and I am very happy to be able to compete in this championship thanks to the support of my family, who are involved in all of this, my coach Franquis Aldama, my fitness trainer Raul Moggiano and my promoter Agon Sport (Ingo Volckmann),” Scull said

Meanwhile, Shishkin is also undefeated. He is a bigger knockout artist, as his 16-0 record includes ten stoppages. He is coming into the fight with a stoppage victory against Mike Guy. That was his third stoppage out of his previous four fights. A large part of his knockout power has been due to his style.

He trains with SugarHill Steward under the ‘Kronk Style.’ Since Skull has so few knockouts, he will be encouraged in coming forward to do the same. Shishkin has already been linked with other fights against Edgar Berlanga and Caleb Plant. If he gets the title, those bouts could become real possibilities. But he has already said he will call out Canelo if he comes through with a win.

“After the fight, I’ll be calling out ‘Ginger Boy,. I see that all happening here. I think (regaining his lost belt) … that’s (Alvarez’s) motivation…It’s everything. I’m ready to die for my dream. It’s why I’ve come to Berlin. “Since I’ve been 15, I’ve been alone with no parents. I haven’t seen them in five years. I will return to my motherland. I’m ready,” Shishkin stated
