Fans Predict Danny Garcia Vs. Daniel Gonzalez – ‘No Look Hook KO’

As former two-division world champion Danny Garcia prepares for what is his final fight on October 18 against Daniel Gonzalez, boxing fans are weighing in with their predictions.
The 37-year-old Garcia is set to end his career, which saw him unify titles at 140 lbs (holding the WBA Super, WBC, and The Ring junior welterweight belts) and later capture the WBC welterweight title. However, the current version of Garcia is a shadow of his former self. His activity has been sporadic, having fought only four times since 2020.
Danny’s only victory during this period was against Jose Benavidez Jr. in 2022. The major cause for concern remains his last performance, a stoppage loss to WBA Middleweight Champion Erislandy Lara in September 2024. As for Gonzalez, he enters the bout on a two-fight winning streak, with victories over Keane McMahon and Michael Anderson. The general consensus among fans is that while a prime Garcia would be an overwhelming favorite, this version of “Swift” is vulnerable.
Pre-Fight
“I made a lot of money, and I still got a lot of money. The reason why I’m doing this fight is I want to end my career with my hand raised in the air. No other reason why I’m doing this fight. Strictly for the love of the sport. Not for the money, not for the fame. I’m doing it just to end the Danny Garcia chapter with my hand raised. I always wanted to be a three-division champion. I fell short in my last fight. But I did fight everybody, so I’m proud because I stepped into the ring with everybody they put me in front of, and I never backed down from a challenge.
I feel like I accomplished a lot, and I’m proud of myself. I would probably say Matthysse [was my best performance in 2013] because of the hype. I was the underdog, but I was the champion. Everyone thought he was gonna knock me out, and I beat him. Because of that, it had a lot of meaning to it, but I feel like I have a lot of great wins in my career,” Garcia said
