Fans Mock Haney’s Public Workout In London

Fans have mocked Devin Haney for holding a public workout in London.
The news comes as Haney will have his first boxing fight since the Ryan Garcia no-contest. The fight is still months away, which is why Haney’s decision has come out of the blue. Haney is also not fighting in the UK, nor has he ever done so, raising question marks over his reasoning. It could simply be done as a marketing ploy to improve his brand. Haney’s commercial value has dropped dramatically since the Garcia fight. He vacated his WBC Junior Welterweight Title after only Top Rank made a purse bid for his mandatory fight against Sandor Martin.
Liam Paro also slammed Haney for pricing himself out of a fight. Meanwhile, the new IBF Junior Welterweight Champion Richardson Hitchins has dismissed Haney as a threat. Haney’s decision to sue Garcia for fraud, battery, and unjust enrichment resulted in Tim Bradley calling him soft. Eddie Hearn reacted to Haney’s decision to fight on BLK Prime, suggesting that he may have priced himself out of a fight with Matchroom. Haney is known for boxing with DAZN, usually operating on a fight-by-fight basis.
Haney’s Future
“Devin needs to have a comeback fight, really. For the amount of money he wants to have a comeback fight, that’s not easy. ‘Cause, generally, a comeback fight isn’t a great fight. At the same time, who’s going to pay for it? If you can find someone to pay great money for a comeback fight, maybe that’s BLK Prime. I don’t even know if there’s any truth to it, but it’d be good to see him back, ‘cause I do think he needs to get himself back in the ring,” Hearn said
It turns out Haney was in London to meet with the Saudis to start talks over fights. It is important to remember that Haney is still a big name when it comes to achievements. Haney is a two-weight world champion who became the youngest undisputed champion in the four-belt era. He defeated George Kambosos Jr. to clean up all the belts at lightweight. Devin also defeated Regis Prograis in his first fight at 140 pounds to become the WBC Junior Welterweight Champion.
It is also important to remember that the weight and Ostarine may have had an impact on the Garcia fight. This is irrespective of Garcia’s team arguing that the presence of Ostarine was not enough to enhance performance. But boxers are only as good as their last performance. Haney can set that right if he secures the Garcia rematch. Hearn recognized that this would be the fight to do. But until that happens, fans may not take too kindly to Haney.
“Devin’s been very well paid. A lot of that is down to me. But the problem is this interim fight. Him against Ryan Garcia does massive numbers – but that interim fight, he’s not one of them guys that’s gonna take half a million or a million to have an easy 10-rounder. He still wants to get paid very well. I think a lot of people are going to be interested to see Devin Haney fight again, because they’re probably not sure how he’s going to come back,” Hearn added
