Fans Disappointed By UFC 309 Card - 'Horrible, Disastrous, Terrible'

The full card for Jon Jones Vs. Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 has been announced, with fans being unhappy

Jones makes the first defense of his UFC Heavyweight Title, which he secured after submitting Ciryl Gane last year at UFC 285. The American was sent to face Miocic at UFC 295 last year. However, Jones had to pull out of the fight because he suffered a pectoral muscle injury. He subsequently underwent surgery to rectify the issue. In his absence, Tom Aspinall has worked himself into a world title shot position. Aspinall is the current UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion.

He defeated Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 in his last fight to avenge the only defeat of his UFC career. Dana White confirmed that Aspinall would face the winner of Jones-Miocic next. He also revealed that Aspinall is back up for UFC 309 in case either fighter pulls out. There is speculation over this fight, with suggestions that Jones could retire. This is especially true since Miocic will do the same regardless of the result.

In chief support, Michael Chandler will rematch Charles Oliveira. They faced off previously at UFC 262 in 2021. Olivera won the bout with a second-round knockout, as Chandler missed out on the UFC Lightweight Title. Chandler was set to face Conor McGregor at UFC 303 on June 29. However, the fight failed after McGregor withdrew with a broken toe. Chandler has not had a UFC fight since his 2022 defeat against Dustin Poirier at UFC 281. He had waited so long for the McGregor fight that he may have wasted his best years. However, a win over Oliveira will take him closer to securing a lightweight title shot.

White’s Announcement

“Saturday, November 16th, we are back at Madison Square Garden, New York City for UFC 309.“In the main event, the undefeated heavyweight champion, the greatest of all time and the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Jon Jones, faces the former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Jon Jones is the youngest-ever UFC champion. He was a two-division world champion, has the most title wins and is looking to beat the greatest heavyweight of all time – Stipe Miocic.

“Two of the baddest dudes in the world facing off in the baddest division in combat sports to determine who is the greatest heavyweight. In the co-main event, two of the most exciting men to ever fight in the lightweight division will meet again in a rematch of their crazy back-and-forth 2021 title fight, with the No. 2 ranked Charles Oliveira taking on No. 6-ranked Michael Chandler in a five-round number one contender fight,” Dana White
