Fans Convinced Fury Will Fight AJ After Training Footage
Tyson Fury has teased fans with a potential comeback after he shared some footage of him in the boxing gym.
Fury announced his retirement from the sport after Oleksandr Usyk defeated him for the second time. The defeat meant he missed out on becoming the Unified Heavyweight Champion, which would have set up a potential undisputed fight with the IBF champ, Daniel Dubois. Fury also lost the first fight against Usyk, as he missed out on becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion. There was an increasing expectation that Fury would face Anthony Joshua, after which he would probably call time on his career.
Fury vs. Joshua is the biggest boxing fight out there to be made. They had previously agreed to fight each other, only for Fury to withdraw after Deontay Wilder won his arbitration case. The ruling meant that Fury had to rematch Wilder as the Joshua fight never happened. Fury received over $100 million for the two Usyk fights. Fury would be able to command something similar for a Joshua fight, given it has the ability to sell out in the UK and Saudi Arabia.
The Saudis are already on record saying they would like to see this fight. Meanwhile, there is still enough demand from the British fans to see it even if the two fighters are no longer in their prime. Fury faces the risk that if he were to lose to Joshua, he would risk tarnishing his legacy even further. Before the Usyk defeats, he was considered the best heavyweight of his era.
Will Fury Return?
A defeat to Joshua risks harming his legacy further. Fury’s manager, Spencer Brown, recently suggested that Fury was bored, fuelling the narrative that he could make a return. And the following footage of Fury hitting the heavy bag has only reinforced that narrative. Boxing fans were also convinced that a Fury vs. Joshua fight would happen.
“I spoke to him last week, he’s really happy. Really happy. He’s getting a little bit bored but he was really happy. I think he went to a nice birthday party over the weekend and had a few beers. Just speaking to him gives you a bit of light in your life because he makes you smile and he doesn’t anything too seriously. “Is he going to fight again? He’s retired. He might be getting a little bit bored at the moment but that’s just a natural thing.
“He’s just enjoying himself, he’s running everyday. He’s really looking good. [And] he’s tanned, he’s fit. He looks good. I was quite surprised when I saw him. He’s usually eating Jelly Babies and sweets but this time none of that. He’s proper on his diet. But if not God bless him, he’s earned what he’s got. I believe there is the potential for it. What happens nobody knows. Tyson has done shocking things before, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he did it again,” Brown said
