Ex-UFC Heavyweight Rozenstruik Facing Felony Charges

Former UFC heavyweight fighter Jairzinho Rozenstruik remains in custody following his arrest on January 19.
Rozenstruik is facing legal repercussions following an alleged domestic altercation that resulted in physical injuries. Reports indicate he is facing charges of false imprisonment, with a bond set at $2,500. Further charges also include domestic violence battery, with a bond set at $1,000. Despite the bonds, Rozenstruik has not been released. Authorities have placed an immigration hold. Under U.S. law, non-citizens facing felony charges can be detained by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) regardless of their ability to pay bail.
The dispute reportedly turned physical while the couple was driving to a storage unit. The victim alleges Rozenstruik slapped her, causing her to drop her phone. She further alleges Rozenstruik struck her again, while she attempted to leave the vehicle. The victim revealed she punched Rozenstruik in self-defense, only for the latter to then bite her on her right bicep. Rozenstruik is not on the UFC roster, having not fought since his defeat to Sergei Pavlovich at UFC Saudi Arabia on February 1, 2025.
Reaction
“Rozenstruik was “uncooperative during the investigation and had changed his account of the incident multiple times and withheld information regarding the incident. Multiple attempts were needed for Jairzinho to give his account of the incident. Due to the above factors and the totality of the circumstances, probable cause that Jairzinho was the primary aggressor during this incident and committed the alleged crime was established,” police report said
The Future
The timing of this arrest is particularly damaging to Rozenstruik’s career. Having lost against Sergei Pavlovich in 2025 and currently sitting off the active UFC roster, he was already in a “limbo” phase. At the heavyweight level, where physical prime is often shorter, any extended period of incarceration translates to “ring rust” and lost earning potential.
Being detained means he has no access to high-level coaching, specialized diets, or sparring partners. If he is detained for several months awaiting trial, his physical conditioning would deteriorate to the point where returning to a top-tier promotion like the UFC would be unlikely at his age.
