Chris Eubank Jr. faces Conor Benn in their clash this weekend, as boxing insiders gave their predictions.

Benn and Eubank go head to head as they seek to live up to their father’s famous rivalry. The fight has been marred by mass controversy. Their initial 2022 fight was called off after Benn failed VADA tests for Ostarine. Benn denied taking any substances, as UKAD suspended him as an investigation continued.
He is now cleared to box, although the exact nature of why he was cleared has not been made public.

Eubank Jr. was unhappy at Benn’s conduct as he egged him during their kickoff presser, as the animosity between the pair continued with things becoming more personal. Eubank’s father, Chris Eubank Sr., has said he will not attend the fight as he is not on board with it due to safety concerns. Eubank will be coming down to 160 pounds with a 10-pound rehydration clause, while Benn will jump up from 154 pounds after having boxed at 147 previously. Here is how boxing insiders saw the fight playing out.

Predictions

“I’m backing Conor Benn. I’ve spoken to him a few times, he’s always been a top bloke to me. His dad’s a top bloke. His dad’s a legend. And I’ll be backing him. It’s going to be difficult, as he’s already alluded to—two weight divisions going up—but it’ll also be difficult for Eubank to stay within that hydration clause,” Johnny Fisher

“Very tough fight for Conor. Not saying he can’t win it, because one big left hook could change anything. But to me, his best chances are to try and land a big shot. If that doesn’t happen—or if he lands it and it doesn’t hurt Chris—then it’s going to be really rough for him, because Chris is definitely an improved fighter,” Roy Jones Jr.

“I think it’s a great fight. I would pick Benn at the minute simply because Eubank was cracked by Liam Smith and you know he was never cracked before and it’s just a summary for me. He had a great chin up to then and then he was knocked out and it’s never quite the same again. I think Benn is a more explosive fighter than Liam Smith. He’s faster, he punchers hard. But then you know the cliche that a good big one will always beat a good little. But I would give Benn the edge,” Barry Mcguigan

“I think Eubank is the favorite and a lot of it depends on how he makes weight and what he looks like on the scales and the 10 pound rehydration clause is going to be difficult for him.

“I’ve been kind of criticized a wee bit because I’ve been saying he’s been boxing at 168. He hasn’t, he’s been boxing at 160. But the point I was trying to make was that he has boxed at 168. And as you get older, you normally go up the weight. You don’t come down the weight so, uh it’s hurting him now to do 160 and I need to see what he looks like,” Carl Frampton
