Eubank Speaks Out After Benn Win; Targets Canelo – ‘I’m In A Great Place’

Chris Eubank Jr. has spoken out for the first time following his unanimous decision victory over Conor Benn.
Eubank gave Benn the first defeat of his career in a thrilling encounter to win the approval of the British boxing public. He overcame many hurdles in the build-up to the fight to secure his biggest win. He failed to make the 160-pound weight limit, while he also had to abide by a 10-pound rehydration clause.
It was clear during the fight that Eubank was drained, as Eubank Sr. had raised safety concerns over this fight.
While Sr. said he would not attend, he turned up on fight night to walk out his son on the biggest moment of his career. Eubank was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure following a thrilling encounter. Eubank denied suggestions that he had a broken jaw, something which Benn’s team had relayed to the media. There are suggestions that there could be a rematch, although the weight stipulations may have to change. If Eubank cannot make 160 pounds, then it is not ideal for Benn, who is already moving up from 154 pounds when he is naturally a 147 fighter.

The other alternative is to fight Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez is on course to become the Undisputed Super Middleweight Champion for the second time if he defeats William Scull on May 3. A Canelo victory also sets up a blockbuster event against Terence Crawford. Alvarez recently said that he wants to fight in the UK before he walks away from the sport. That sets the narrative for a Canelo and Eubank fight in 2026, which would no doubt sell out a stadium. Eubank admitted that Canelo was on his radar.
“Conor Benn and Eddie Hearn ran away with the story of a broken jaw. There’s no broken jaw here. We are strong, our bones are dense. When you’re in a fight like that you have to go to hospital, you have to get tested and looked after. But I’m feeling good, I’m feeling grateful that the fight was so well received. I’m in a great place.
“That is another stadium filler. Wembley, Tottenham, any one of the large football stadiums in the UK will be filled for a fight like that. He is an opponent that I’ve been looking at for many years now and the fans would love to see that. So 100% that’s a name that’s in my line of sight. We will be doing whatever we can to secure that fight in the future,” Eubank said
