Eubank Jr.’s Worrying Health Update – ‘I’ve Been Dealing With A Lot’

Chris Eubank Jr. shared footage of himself in hospital, as he revealed he will take time off from boxing due to health issues.
The news comes following his unanimous decision loss to Conor Benn last month, tying their rivalry at 1-1. Eubank was almost knocked out in the final round after Benn dropped him twice, only to be saved by the bell. There were suggestions that the 160 weight cut, followed by the ten-pound rehydration clause hindered him. Even after his win over Benn in April, Eubank was taken to hospital after suffering from extreme dehydration due to the weight stipulations.
Ben Shalom recently confirmed that Eubank would not retire, as Chris appears to echo those words. He confirmed that he has been battling health issues, but aims to come back stronger. If Eubank returns, he is unlikely to box at 160, meaning a Benn trilogy will be off the table. The following video shows Eubank lying in a hospital bed, surrounded by medical staff and connected to monitoring equipment.
“I’ve been dealing with a lot of health issues over the last year & yeah it all finally caught up to me last month. I will not box again until I’m back to 100% & I don’t know when that will be, but one things for certain… For the fans that have supported me through thick & thin, I will do everything in my power to make sure that one day, the old me makes a big comeback,” Eubank
Should He Retire?
A trilogy with Benn—his most commercially viable opponent—will likely be off the table if he moves up in weight, as 160 lbs is too taxing. While a move to 168 lbs offers new avenues, it places him into a division currently dominated by younger, elite champions who will not offer an easy path. Taking on the likes of Canelo Alvarez or Christian Mbilli is too risky at this stage of his career.
Eubank is also expecting baby twins, a new chapter that elevates his priorities beyond the ring. After a career defined by massive paydays and major fights, Eubank has more than enough financial security. Retiring now allows him to focus fully on his family and address his health without the terrifying risk of returning to a sport where one misplaced punch could cost him everything.
