Espinoza Fires Back At Dana White’s Criticism – ‘I Hope He Can Elevate His Vocabulary’

In today’s boxing news latest headlines, Stephen Espinoza has hit back at Dana White’s personal attacks against him.

The executive of Showtime has been involved in a war of words with White ever since reports emerged that Showtime could exit boxing in 2024. In response to that news, White did not hold back on his disdain for the network.

He took aim at the production, citing its poor quality. And in doing so, he also directed his criticism towards Espinoza. In response, the latter talked up Showtime’s success by highlighting how they had generated three gates that would exceed $20 million this year.

This was more than the UFC had done in their entire history for a single gate. Those comments did not sit well with White, who branded Espinoza a ‘weasel.’

White On Espinoza

“That’s exactly the type of response I would expect from that Weasel Espinoza. That s***bag has absolutely nothing to do with the success of Canelo, Ryan Garcia, and Terence Crawford. Those guys are mega stars and they are the ones responsible for driving the gates in their fights.

“For him to even try and take any credit at all shows you exactly what an arrogant, delusional POS that guy is. For this clown to talk about ‘levels’ is hilarious. The production of the fights on Showtime is an embarrassment and I have been saying that FOREVER.

“He is a little guy with a BIG yap, and is a complete phony. I’m not at all surprised this is the end for them. It should have come way sooner. Sorry to see you go Weasel, enjoy your retirement,” White said

But rather than engage in a back-and-forth with him, Espinoza attempted to distance himself from making verbal remarks.

“I’m shocked by the comments. We’ve always known Dana to be so articulate and intelligent and witty with his comments. It’s so strange of him to lash out in anger. Who would have guessed that he would lash out in anger at somebody. We’ve never seen that before, right?

“I think some of it is I didn’t go along with the misrepresentations that he wanted to say on the events that we did together. I think it’s kind of obvious. I don’t have to articulate. I think people can put two and two together and see why he tends to single me out among most other people for that kind of idiotic abuse.

“If that’s the only way he can engage in some sort of dialogue, then more power to him. I hope he can someday elevate his vocabulary and learn how to speak more eloquently and articulately. I think it’s something that might be necessarily helpful if you’re going to be a leader of a publicly traded company,” Espinoza stated

Those comments are not likely to help further crossover fights with Showtime that White had been involved in. To make the 2017 fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr, White ultimately allowed the former to take on the fight.

Despite it setting pay-per-view records, White’s comments suggest that any further collaborations may be out of the question. That would fit into the narrative that White is looking to enter the sport of boxing himself to revamp it, much like he did with the UFC which has become a major success today.
