Ellerbe Supports Spence-Crawford Rematch, Danis Gets Restraining Order

In some recent boxing news, Leonard Ellerbe has backed Errol Spence’s desire to have a rematch with Terence Crawford at 154 pounds.

Following the stoppage-loss to Crawford in the ninth round, there were question marks over whether Spence would exercise his rematch clause.

Spence’s Rematch Clause

However, after the dust had settled down, the ‘Truth’ did so with the intention of fighting at junior middleweight. However, the noise coming from Crawford’s camp is that the boxer only wants the rematch at 147 as he targets a potential undisputed fight at 168 between the winner of Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo

Although that may be the case, Ellerbe felt that Crawford could run things back at 154 since Spence had given him the chance to fight for all the belts in the first place.

Ellerbe On Spence-Crawford

“But Errol gave him the opportunity when he didn’t have to.  He made the fight because he wanted to do it for the fans. He sacrificed some things. So, in my opinion, you got to do what you got to do. 154 is seven pounds North. It does make a difference. Errol Spence is an incredible fighter, and Crawford is too. If that’s what Errol wants to do in the rematch, I support him wholeheartedly because he as a fighter, as man, he knows what he wants, and if  Crawford will grant him that opportunity to give it to the fans,” Ellerbe

Spence’s Future

In reality, facing Spence at 154 does nothing for Bud’s resume. In fact, it is a riskier fight as a win provides no belts, while a loss gives Spence the chance to state that the 147 weight was the reason for the first loss. However, Crawford is the A-side as Spence remains in a tough place.

Danis’ Restraining Order

Aside from the Spence talk, Dillon Danis has been given a restraining order after his failure to turn up to a hearing on September 19th, 2023.

The order was made by Logan Paul’s fiancee Nina Agdal. This came after Danis made numerous social media posts over her alleged high body count.

That occurred as a way to get under Paul’s skin as the two will box each other on October 14th, 2023. Agdal claimed that the posts had caused her ‘humiliation,’ which is why she wanted to prevent Danis from posting any further.

Danis, however, did not attend the hearing. This meant the order came about. The order, as per MMAFighting, states that Danis “and all persons in active concert or participation with him, [are not allowed to post] sexually explicit photographs [without Agdal’s permission].”

The move is crucial in that it demonstrates that Danis’ actions are having an impact on Paul. After all, if Agdal is suffering from the social media activity, it is naturally going to impact Paul’s preparations regardless of what he may say.

So the question moving forward is whether Paul and Danis can back up the trash talk that they have been doing. Time will tell come fight night.
