Eddie Hearn Doubts Dubois Will Beat Parker!

Eddie Hearn is not 100 percent confident that Daniel Dubois will beat Joseph Parker in their February 22 clash.

Dubois is the IBF Heavyweight Champion, a belt he defended successfully after knocking out Anthony Joshua in his last fight. He dropped Joshua to the canvas three times before ending the fight in the fifth round. The win solidified his position as a legitimate world champion after initially inheriting the belt once Oleksandr Usyk vacated.

There was talks over a rematch with Joshua. Dubois was willing to go ahead with the bout. However, Joshua’s team moved on elsewhere with a possible eye on the Tyson Fury fight. Dubois is now in a position to face Usyk for the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship, provided he gets past Parker. Parker is the former WBO Heavyweight Champion, showing he has the experience to win at world level.

Dubois Vs. Parker

He is also coming off the two best wins of his career. He defeated Deontay Wilder in a unanimous decision, only allowing The Bronze Bomber to win a single round across all three judges’ scorecards. Parker followed that up with a brilliant majority decision win against Zhilei Zhang. Parker had to get off the canvas twice to see out the victory. Dubois reacted to Usyk’s second win over Fury by jumping in the ring and calling him out. They faced off last year in a controversial bout.

Dubois dropped Usyk in the fifth round with a body shot. However, the body shot was deemed a low blow as Usyk was given up to five minutes to recover. The Ukrainian eventually got back up and then stopped Dubois in the ninth round to win the fight. Despite Dubois’ team appealing the decision, the original result was upheld. Dubois was criticized for calling out Usyk immediately in the ring since he had just had a tough fight with Fury. The call out was seen in poor taste.

Dubois And Usyk

“I want my revenge! I want my revenge, Usyk. Well done tonight. God bless, but I want my revenge. Let’s get it! Let’s go,” Dubois said

“Yeah, no problem. I’m ready. Next fight, no problem. Now I’m going back home for a little bit of rest, but I’m ready,” Usyk replied

However, Dubois has been criticized for overlooking Parker by focusing on Usyk. Hearn was not convinced that Dubois was certain to come out with a win.

“I don’t really see any other fights for Oleksandr Usyk but one thing I will tell you is don’t count your chickens. [And] I don’t think Daniel Dubois will necessarily beat Joseph Parker. I think Joseph Parker is on a tremendous run of form. He’s in the shape of his life, he’s extremely confident. But Dubois has a lot of confidence himself. If you’re looking at the future for Oleksandr Usyk, I guess it is to try and pick up that spare belt again that he let go,” Hearn said
