Dvalishvili ‘Exposes’ Umar Nurmagomedov After UFC 310 Fan Altercation

Merab Dvalishvili has reacted to his fan altercation at UFC 310, stating Umar Nurmagomedov’s team were at fault.
The UFC Bantamweight Champion is coming off a win against Sean O’Malley at UFC 306, which secured him the belt. He dominated O’Malley to win a one-sided unanimous decision. He will now defend his title against Nurmagomedov at UFC 311. Nurmagomedov is undefeated with a 6-0 record, making him one of the leading contenders in the division.
Dvalishvili was at UFC 310, as he was in Aljamain Sterling’s corner. Sterling would come up short, losing to Movsar Evloev. An altercation then broke out, as Dennis Buzukja seemed to throw a punch at a fan. Dennis was also in Sterling’s corner. Merab was separated by security before the situation could escalate. Now, the dust has settled down somewhat, Merab implied there may have been a ‘connection’ with the fan and Umar’s team.
Merab Reacts
“More lies, disrespect, and deliberate provocations from Umar’s team. Here’s the real story,” Dvalishvili said
Dana White has reacted to the situation by comparing Merab to Sean Strickland. Sean is one of the most divisive fighters in the UFC. The American has developed a reputation for being very outspoken. While that has won him a lot of support, it has also resulted in much criticism.
Merab’s incident will only go on to promote the fight with around a month to go before he faces Umar. His fight against O’Malley at UFC 306 set the UFC live gate record of $22 million. It was the first combats sports event at The Sphere. Merab also made history by joining Ilia Topuria as a Georgian UFC champion. White responded to the incident by drawing parallels with Merab and Sean.
White Responds
“Fighters are a paranoid bunch. There’s always some conspiracy against them. Whether it’s us or other people. We make fights people want to see. They win or lose the fights on their own but they are conspiracy theorists. They always think that somebody is against them and maybe that’s what they need to do to have that mental thing to go out and do what they do,” White stated
“Merab’s that guy. This isn’t his first altercation. We try to diffuse this stuff before it happens and tonight we had a good game plan. I didn’t think he’d get into a fight walking out with Aljamain. He’s my mini Strickland without the mouth. What do you do? Let him buy the pay-per-view, I guess. I mean, I don’t know. You can’t keep fighting with…fans. You can do it, it’s gonna cost you a lot of money. Listen man, I say it all the time, we’re in the…fight business,” White added
Stickland did not take the comparison too kindly by mocking Merab’s response to the altercation. He focused on Merab’s fighting style, suggesting that the champion does not let his hands go in his fights. While Sean will be focused on his rematch against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 312, he still had time to take a dig at Merab.
“Merab only throws hands with fans in the stands,” Strickland stated
