Drake Loses Big Money After Picking Fury To Beat Usyk

Drake bet $565,000 on Tyson Fury to beat Oleksandr Usyk, losing big money.

The Undisputed Heavyweight Championship took place with Usyk coming out the winner via a split decision. Usyk became the first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in 1999. Fury and Usyk both had undefeated records. Fury was looking to add the WBA, WBO and IBF belts while Usyk was chasing the WBC.

A win would have made Fury undisputed for the first time in his career, while Usyk was aiming to become undisputed in a second weight class following his exploits at cruiserweight. There was very little to separate Fury and Usyk with the bookies. Some had Fury as a slight favorite, while others had Usyk. There were some that offered even odds.

FanDuel: Usyk is the tiniest of favorites at -114 odds (you’d have to bet $114 to win $100) over Fury, who’s priced at -108.

DraftKings: Fury who is favored, with a -120 price, compared to even money, +100, on Usyk.

ESPN Bet: Fury is also favored, but more narrowly, at -115, with Usyk at -105.

At bet365, it’s dead even, -110 each way.

Drake’s Bet

Drake has a history of betting big. However, his results have shown that he does not get his predictions right, which has led to the term ‘Drake’s curse’ being coined. Jake Paul once claimed the ‘curse’ was real after the rapper bet on him to beat Tommy Fury. The Problem Child would ultimately lose a split decision.

“When Drake finally bet on me against Tommy Fury, I lost as well. I feel like it’s actually real. I think it kind of is. I’m gonna- Drake please bet on Mike for this fight. Thank you, Drake,” Paul stated

Drake lost a $550,000 bet when he backed Justin Gaethje to beat Charles Oliveira at UFC 274. However, it was Oliveira who won the fight in the first round, choking his opponent. Drake also lost $275,000 when he picked Jorge Masvidal to beat Colby Covington. But it was Covington who would come out victorious.

Drake’s History

Drake also recently bet $615,000 for Francis Ngannou to beat Anthony Joshua. However, Joshua stopped Ngannou in the second round. But his most recent bet paid off. He backed Alex Pereira to Jamahal Hill at UFC 300. He put a $675,000 bet, taking home $1.2 million. There was a feeling that Drake could have chosen to wait for a fight where the odds offered a bigger win. Ryan Garcia’s fight with Devin Haney had Ryan as a big underdog. Garcia would bet $2 million on himself, collecting $12 million. Based on Fury’s final comments after the weigh-in, the Gypsy King looked confident.

“I’m going to knock him right out. I’m coming for his heart. He’s getting it tomorrow, spark out. They [his team] can all get it if they want it. I’m ready. I’ve got nothing to say. I’m ready for a good fight. If it’s tough or easy. Either way I’ll be ready,” Fury revealed

Ultimately, the result did not go Drake’s way.
