Disgraced Boxer Ryan Garcia Ponders His Future On His 26th Birthday
Ryan Garcia reflected on his life as he turned 26 years old.
The boxer is currently serving a year ban after testing positive for Ostarine. The ban meant his victory over Devin Haney became a no-contest. It was a massive blow for Garcia, who had secured the biggest win of his career. It had propelled him to an even bigger PPV star, as talks over a Gervonta Davis rematch were mentioned. Since the ban, Garcia’s behavior has spiraled out of control. The WBC banned him for posting derogatory remarks against Muslims, Christians and African Americans.
Garcia’s ex-wife, Andrea Celina, also alleged the boxer broke into her home when she refused to allow him to see her children. Andrea alleged she banned Garcia due to substance abuse. She would later file for a restraining order over threatening behavior, only to then state that she would withdraw it.
Garica has also butted heads with other boxers/combat fighters.
Garcia’s Downfall
Caleb Plant threw a beer at him when they attended Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin. This was after Garcia made derogatory comments towards Plant’s wife, Jordan Plant, who is now suing him. Logan Paul also sued Garcia for defamatory comments about his PRIME brand. Garcia has since then hinted that he will box Manny Pacquiao in an exhibition in Japan. Garcia attended Manny’s exhibition fight in Japan against Rukiya Anpo.
After the fight, Garcia revealed he would fight Pacquiao by the end of the year. Provided Garcia stays healthy, he will be allowed to box in the pro ranks in April 2025 and beyond. There is a narrative in place for him to rematch Haney. Haney will be desperate to prove he can beat Garcia on a level playing field.
Meanwhile, Garcia maintained that the amount of Ostarine in his system was not enough to enhance performance. Based on their first fight, it has the potential to become even bigger. Garcia issued a public apology, saying he would enter rehab.
Garcia’s Future
“I lost everything in the past couple of weeks. My boxing career, just so many other things. I hurt Andrea, I hurt you, I hurt our kids, I hurt everybody around me for my actions. I’m sorry, but I know our kids will watch these when they get older. I’m so sorry. I lost everything. I lost the one thing I ever loved, who knew me the most. Andrea knows me the most. I’m sorry, Andrea, I feel bad.
“I retract all my statements about her. She never stole money from me and never did wrong to me. She never cheated on me. We weren’t together, so she’s not a cheater right there. She’s a great woman.“Saying that, I finally decided to get some help. I’m going to rehab, and you will see a change in the next couple of months. I’ve got to handle some things, but after that, I’m going to check myself into rehab and get better,” Garcia said
Now, Garcia was left to ponder what has been a tough year.
