Dillian Whyte Eyes Fights With Joshua And Dubois

Dillian Whyte is targeting a comeback in November, with eyes on future fights with Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.

Whyte suffered a failed test, which prevented the Joshua fight from going ahead last year. Whyte was scheduled to face Joshua in a rematch after being knocked out in their first fight. However, following his failed test, Robert Helenius stepped in as Joshua stopped him. The findings meant that Whyte missed out on lucrative fights at Riyadh Season.

However, he was cleared due to a tainted supplement as he worked his way back with a stoppage win over Christian Hammer. Since then, White has failed to find an opponent. However, he was present at Joshua’s fight against Dubois. Dubois dropped Joshua four times before he stopped him in the fifth round. Based on what he had seen, Whyte was confident that he could beat both.

Whyte Reacts

“Obviously, sometimes boxing is hard and it’s up and down. One minute you’re on top and the next minute you’re not. So I fell out of love with the game and sitting back and seeing these big fights happen, I got a lot of fire back and I’m hungry to fight again.

“I watched Dubois-AJ, and I think to myself, ‘I can beat these guys.’ I’m very capable of beating them. I didn’t see anything special that I was like, ‘Okay the feet was great or the movement was great.’ Obviously, I saw a lot of power and a lot of aggression, which they both bring to the table. So I’m just very motivated. I can’t wait to get back into the big fights. So, November, hopefully, and then December,” Whyte said

Nevertheless, those fights are unlikely. Whyte does not possess belts, and a win against him does not bring people closer to a title shot. The heavyweight is more likely to find success by taking on his domestic competitors. There is the option to have a rematch with Derek Chisora in a trilogy.

Other Options

Whyte won both fights. However, the first one ended in controversial circumstances in a split decision.
Meanwhile, Chisora was well in the fight in their previous bout, only for Whyte to knock him out. Chisora has said that he will retire after his 50th fight. He is coming off one of the best wins of his career after beating Joe Joyce in his last bout.

That was Chisora’s 48th fight, leaving him with two more to go. Equally, Whyte could take on Joyce. Joyce is no longer the same fighter after having been stopped twice by Zhilei Zhang. He then came back with a victory against Kash Ali, which was followed up by the Chisora loss. However, not too long ago, Joyce was touted as a serious threat to the other heavyweights.

There is also an outside chance of taking on another domestic fighter in Fabio Wardley. Wardley will box Frazer Clarke on the Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev card. He is an up-and-coming domestic heavyweight who packs a punch. If Whyte can rack up some wins against his other domestic competitors, he may put himself in a position to chase the bigger names. But as of now, he has plenty of work to do.
