Diaz Threatens To KO Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s Criticism

Nate Diaz has hit out at Eddie Hearn following the latter’s criticism of his fight with Jake Paul.
Paul and Diaz had a crossover event on August 5th, 2023. During the course of that process, Diaz was making his boxing debut.
Despite this being the case, Diaz did well enough to make it to the final. While he did lose a unanimous decision, it was a noteworthy performance for someone who had never boxed before.
And yet, in the aftermath, Eddie Hearn did not have much to say about the event, as he did express his disappointment over what he had seen.
Hearn On Diaz
“It was awful. Don’t get me wrong, the event was unbelievable. You did a great job. Brilliant. But when you’re talking about — you know MMA like the back of your hand. I know boxing like the back of my hand, and I’m watching that like [face in his hands], ‘This is so bad.’
“The reason that Nate didn’t get stopped is that Jake didn’t have the ability. He doesn’t know how to break a fighter down, cut off the ring, beat him up, and stop him. But I give my props to Nate: super tough. Super tough. But you’re talking about low, low level in terms of standard,” Hearn
Diaz On Hearn
Those comments did not sit very well with Diaz, who expressed how Hearn could also be open to criticism.
This is understandable since Matchroom Boxing has come under scrutiny of late. Three fighters who have connections with Matchroom have tested positive very recently.
Conor Benn, Dillian Whyte and Alycia Baumgardner were examples of this. Although Hearn is not responsible for what fighters do, the fact of the matter is that his brand is being affected.
And now Diaz has let Hearn know that he has to be wary of things coming back to haunt him.
“Eddie Hearn I’ll beat all ur fighters asses [,] Lightweight middleweight Heavyweights any weight all of them will get fucked up [,] And unless it’s complimentary keep my name outta your mouth cause u might get it [,] also And fighters check your promoter so he doesn’t get uguys punked,” Diaz said
Joshua’s Criticism
And when it comes to Hearn’s fighters, Anthony Joshua has come under fire.
The Brit stopped Robert Helenius in the seventh round to potentially set up a fight against Deontay Wilder.
Although that may have been the case, prior to the stoppage, AJ was struggling to figure out his opponent.
This was most notably seen when Joshua was heard telling his trainer, Derrick James, that he was struggling to land the right hand.
Not only that, but Joshua’s face had shown that he did suffer some damage. Helenius was managing to land his jab better than Joshua, which showed that he was being outboxed.
With that being said, Joshua has been warned over facing Wilder next.
“At one time, I thought Anthony Joshua was heading to the Hall of Fame. I was really impressed with his punch selection and everything he did, everything about him. In that Klitschko fight, he took that big right hand and came back and won the fight by stoppage. I really don’t know what happened, though. I don’t think it’s a physical thing, but Deontay is crazy
“I think Anthony is a talented fighter, but I think he’s an overthinker. He’s always thinking, and that comes back to bite you. That comes back as a fighter. I just don’t know if he’s going to be mentally up for that kind of fight dealing with a savage like Deontay because Deontay is savage,” Stephen Edwards
Malinaggi On AJ
Much in the same way, Paulie Malignaggi has previously spoken on how he feels Joshua is not ready to face Wilder.
Joshua currently does not have any belts, nor does Wilder, and yet the fight has been talked about since 2019.
During the course of that process, Joshua was the unified heavyweight champion. And at the same time, Wilder had the WBC belt.
However, the failure to get the undisputed fight on was a failure since both fighters were ready to make history. With that being said, Malignaggi’s previous comments show that AJ has declined.
“Joshua is kind of getting past it, not in terms of skills, I think Joshua still has the skills at this age, but I think in terms of the willingness to bite down and be in a tough fight. I saw Joshua trying to cruise past Franklin and just understanding that as long as you get a win, you remain relevant.
“And it was sort of an approach that I had late in my career as well – If you can get a cheap win then you can remain relevant because your name is already so big so you’ll fall into a big money fight. It doesn’t matter how good you look because you’ll be able to get one or two more cash grabs. I saw Joshua with that same mentality where he didn’t want to risk,” Malignaggi
