Diaz Avenges His Loss With A Majority Decision Win Over Masvidal
Nate Diaz beat Jorge Masvidal in their ten-round 175-pound boxing clash via a majority decision: 95-95, 97-93, 98-92.
It was a rerun of their UFC 244 clash which Masvidal won in 2019. Gamebread became the first BMF Champion after the fight was stopped at the end of round three due to a cut over Diaz’s eye. This time around, Diaz came out victorious.
Diaz started on the front foot, landing a flurry on Masvidal’s body. Masvidal started southpaw and landed a right hook in a strong opening round. Gambread was faster in the exchanges, as both men traded in the second. Diaz’s jab was a threat, but Masvidal landed shots to the body once he got past it.
Competitive Start
Masvidal landed a check hook, which buzzed Diaz, who responded with a shot to the midsection. The momentum was now shifting in Masvidal’s favor. He pinned Diaz on the ropes, hitting the body, followed by a left hook to the head in the third.
Diaz was still coming forward. He ended the round strong, with a flurry of his own. Masvidal’s jab was now having success. He was landing the counter left while Diaz sought to overpower Gamebread with his pace. Masvidal had slowed a little, as Diaz grew into it.
Big Shots
Both men refused to slow down. Masvidal attacked the body while Nate was letting his hands go. A fight hook, straight left, landed for Masvidal, which Nate simply took and moved forward in the sxith. It was much the same when heading into the second half of the fight.
Both men took more chances, with less of a focus on the defense. Diaz was still trying to walk Masvidal down. Diaz was now overpowering Gambread with his output, which had a telling impact in the later rounds. Both men traded until the final bell, but it was Diaz who took the win: 95-95, 97-93, 98-92.
Post-Fight
“It feels good to get the job done, for sure. It’s always been about respect (with Masvidal). He showed up. He came to fight and so did I. I’m gonna beat Jake Paul… and I’m down to fight the highest-ranked boxer I can find. My main objective is to be the best fighter in the world and to go back and get a UFC title. Leon Edwards, Jake Paul, and anyone else. You’re dead,” Diaz
“I thought I won. I definitely thought I landed more meaningful shots. [And] I might have got hit with some volume, but I was never hurt. You can see that,” Masvidal
