Devin Haney and Regis Prograis have their junior welterweight clash on December 9th, 2023, live on DAZN PPV.

Haney moves up to 140 to have his first fight at the weight class against arguably the best fighter at junior welterweight. Prograis defends his WBC belt, knowing that a win over Haney could propel him to being a PPV star. Meanwhile, a victory for Haney makes him a two-weight world champion.

Heading into the fight, there are question marks over whether Haney will be able to take Prograis’ power at 140. This was particularly true since Haney had been tagged repeatedly by Vasiliy Lomachenko in his last fight, which many felt he had lost. As for Prograis, he has a lot to prove following his last performance against Danielito Zorrilla, which he won by a split decision, in a performance that failed to excite his home fans.

This is a huge fight for boxing and it’s a big opportunity for me because I have always dreamed of becoming a two-weight division world champion. I’m happy that I can hold on to my titles but also happy that I can challenge Regis, who is the best at 140. But I will show that I’m on a different level and that I am the best. I’m excited for it, and I think the fight is going to fireworks. I’m far above him,” Haney

“I just think he’s not going to be able to take mine. [And] I think he can take punishment from the little guys because he’s so much bigger, he’s been so much bigger…but it’s definitely going to be a different story with me. I know he not going to be able to take what I got. For 12 rounds? It’s not going to happen. And he’s not going to knock me out, he ain’t got no power. So he gonna have to last for 12 rounds with me and it’s not happening,” Prograis
