Devin Haney boxes Jose Ramirez on May 2, as boxing insiders gave their predictions.
Haney will have his first bout since the Ryan Garcia no-contest last year. Haney was dropped three times as he lost a majority decision. However, since Garcia failed VADA tests for Ostarine, the result was overturned. Haney will fight at welterweight for the first time, as he faces serious questions over his defense and chin.
Meanwhile, Ramirez is coming off a loss to Arnold Barboza Jr. However, Ramirez is known for packing a punch. His 29-2-0 record, includes 18 KO wins. While he only has one stoppage in his last six bouts, Ramirez will fancy himself to hurt Haney based on the latter’s last fight. Here is how boxing insiders saw the fight playing out.

“Well, I’m looking for Devin to look good in this fight — in his comeback fight. I actually trained Devin a long time ago. Very talented young kid. And it’s kind of funny because I always told his dad, “Your son’s going to be world champion one day.” And he fulfilled that prophecy. But I don’t really know too much about the guy that he’s fighting. I think Devin’s going to be working really hard. He wants a rematch with Ryan Garcia as well. So hopefully he’s focusing on the guy he’s fighting and not looking past that to fight Ryan Garcia. If he’s focused the way he should be, I think Devin should win,” Jeff Mayweather
