In some MMA news, Derrick Lewis shut down any questions regarding his recent arrest for reckless driving.

Reports indicated that Lewis had been apprehended by authorities on October 25th, 2023, which just so happened to be ten days before his fight with Jailton Almeida at UFC Fight Night 231 on November 5th, 2023.

It is claimed that the heavyweight had been driving 150 miles per hour in an area where the speed limit was just 50. And it was being done at a time where the fighter was changing lanes unsafely in his red Lamborghini.

Thereafter, the fighter was apprehended by authorities as he is expected to attend a court hearing on December 27th, 2023. As such, Lewis could face jail time of up to 30 days and a fine of up to $200 if convicted. Despite the seriousness of it all, Lewis attempted to avoid any questions regarding the issue.

Lewis Reacts

“No, no. I don’t even think that was me. That guy had hair, you see the picture, I don’t got no hair, that ain’t me, I don’t know,” Lewis

From one heavyweight to another, Brendan Schaub was confident that Francis Ngannou could stop Jon Jones. The observation was in response to Ngannou’s impressive performance against Tyson Fury.

On what was his boxing debut, Ngannou went the distance, hurt Fury and arguably was deprived of a massive win on the scorecards.

That had shown the former UFC heavyweight champion’s ability to adapt on the biggest stage, giving him a potential advantage against Jones.

Schaub On Ngannou

“Francis Ngannou is the baddest man on the planet. Who’s going to beat him, Jon Jones? I’m on record saying this: I thought Jon Jones would smoke Francis after watching him do what he did against Ciryl Gane. Watching Francis vs. Fury, I’m like, ‘Oh, he’d beat Jon.’ He’d beat Jon in MMA. I think he knocks him out,” Schaub said

Nevertheless, not too much can be read into Ngannou’s performance. It was ultimately, one boxing bout as there were questions over whether Fury had overlooked his opponent.

In addition, until Ngannou enters the boxing ring again, there are still reservations over his skillset. But for all of the questions that had not been answered, Schuab dismissed any concerns by praising Ngannou.

“I didn’t realize how good he was. I knew he was good, but I didn’t realize he was this talented. I knew he was a freak athletically, but I didn’t know he was world-class-boxing-beat-the-breaks-off-the-greatest-of-all-time good. Who did? This is nuts…Te greatest heavyweight is not in the UFC. The greatest heavyweight at boxing and mixed martial arts is not in the UFC. Who’s going to beat Francis,” Schuab

The only way to realistically decide the best would be for Jones and Ngannou to face each other. And if both fighters continue to rack up impressive wins, then the calls for that will only grow.

And provided that both fighters are ready to face each other, the sums to make it happen will no doubt emerge. Find all the latest boxing news and MMA breaking updates on boxingblitz.
