Dana White will have the honor of welcoming Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention.

According to reports, the Convention will take place on July 18 in Milwaukee. That is when Trump will announce his presidential nomination as he seeks to serve a second term. White has been an ardent supporter of Trump for some time. He has introduced himself at the Convention twice, in 2016 and 2020.

Their relationship goes back a long way ever since Trump helped the UFC stage events in New Jersey while seeking an arena during the earlier stages of the organization. Dana even turned down sponsors for the UFC who wanted him to remove his support for the former President. White did not name them but made it clear that he would not compromise.

White On Trump

“I posted a video for Trump on my personal social media. One of our big sponsors called and said, ‘Take that down.’ You know what I said? Go[away]…You vote for whoever you want to vote for, and I’ll vote for whoever I want to vote for. That’s how this works. I don’t even care who you’re voting for. It’s none of my [bloody] business….Don’t ever…call me and tell me who to vote for,” White said

Trump is an ardent supporter of the UFC, having attended several events. The latest event he attended was UFC 302. This featured Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirer for the UFC Lightweight Title. It was a massive event, with suggestions that Dustin could retire after this fight. However, it was not the result Poirier was hoping for.

He lost via a fifth-round submission as Islam retained his belt. Khabib Nurmagomedov was in Islam’s corner. After the fight, Trump and Khabib had an interaction. Khabib could be heard telling Trump that he must stop the war in Gaza. Trump responded, stating it would happen. Once the dust had settled, Trump was full of praise for the Russian.

Trump On Khabib

“Khabib Nurmagomedov, who retired after a RECORD of 29-0, never having lost even a single round, is probably the Greatest Fighter of All Time. I met him at the UFC event on Saturday night in New Jersey. A really smart guy – Big things in the future for Khabib,” Trump stated

That is one thing Trump and White may disagree on. White has praised Khabib but felt he retired too early to be considered the best. Khabib walked away after the passing of his father, promising his mother he would not fight again. He retired at his peak with a 29-0 record. Despite several offers to make a comeback, Khabib has kept his promise. White felt Jones had an edge in that regard.

White’s GOAT

“Jon Jones — there’s no debate. Nobody can debate who’s the greatest of all time. It’s absolutely positively Jon Jones. He’s never lost. He’s never been beaten in the Octagon ever. “He destroyed everybody at Light Heavyweight, which at the time was the toughest weight class in the company and the sport. And then he moved up to Heavyweight, won easily at Heavyweight. And the other thing is that you have to factor in too is longevity.

“It’s undeniable. You can hate all you want. Jon Jones is the greatest of all time I think that Khabib had the potential to be in the running for that. He just didn’t stick around a lot. First of all, he had injuries that, you know, he should have been where he got a lot sooner had he not had the injuries that he had, and the setbacks in his career. But, there’s no doubt Khabib is one of the all time greats,” White stated
