Dana White Talks Up Jones vs. Pereira – ‘Jones Is The Nastiest Dude Ever’
Dana White has teased a possible fight between Jon Jones and Alex Pereira.
Pereira’s stock has grown following the two-weight world champion’s recent performances. Following his KO loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 287. He won the vacant title after stopping Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295. The Brazilian knocked out Prochazka again at UFC 303 in his last fight. After the fight, Pereira teased the idea of moving up to heavyweight.
Jones Vs. Pereira
As for Jones, the UFC Heavyweight Champion is currently out injured after injuring his pectoral muscle. The news meant he could not defend his belt at UFC 295 against Stipe Miocic as he underwent surgery. Dana White refused to strip him as he worked his way back from injury. Jones has entertained a fight with Pereira, but it is much bigger than an Aspinall one. Pereria has also said he would only move up to heavyweight to take on Jones. The Brazilian aimed to target a third UFC title and go down in history, while Aspinall holds the interim title. White has talked up the fight, saying it is possible.
“It’s a possibility. [Joe] Rogan has been pushing me right now to try to make that fight. It’s just, guys, let me explain something to you. Jon Jones is a whole other level. Jon Jones is — I consider Jon Jones the greatest combat fighter of all time. When you talk about the [Muhammad] Ali’s and the this and the that. Let me tell you what, I got Ali’s picture hung everywhere. I love Muhammad Ali. I love Mike Tyson. Jon Jones is the nastiest dude ever in history,” White said

However, Jones is currently going through legal troubles. He has been charged with two misdemeours following an incident with a Drug Free Sport employee who came to his house to carry out a drug test. Reports indicate Crystal Martinez was threatened by Jones, who took her phone so she could not call the authorities. Jones released security footage showing him directing her and her employee to the car in a peaceful manner. Jones was still charged, as he pleaded not guilty. If found guilty, he could be in jail for one year. There could also be a fine of up to $1500. White admitted that he does not have the easiest relationship with Jones.
“Jon Jones and I have not had a great relationship as far as business goes. That doesn’t twist my judgment. He is the greatest combat fighter of all time. Period. End of story. There’s not even an argument. My two all-time favorites, people that were the best to ever deal with and that I absolutely love, Chuck Liddell, Ronda Rousey. Ronda Rousey’s the greatest athlete I’ve ever worked with by 100 miles. Then Conor McGregor has been a great athlete to work with for me. There’s been a whole list of them,” White stated
If Jones and Pereira continue winning, it will only increase the calls on the UFC to make that fight. However, based on the reaction from UFC fans, they want to see Aspinall fight Jones first.
