Dana White Rules Out Cross Promotion For Jones Vs. Ngannou

In some top MMA news, Dana White has ruled out a fight between Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones.
Both fighters are currently fighting under different MMA organizations, with Jones being a UFC fighter, while Ngannou plies his trade with the PFL.
The latter left the organization after contract talks broke down, which could not be resolved. Despite receiving a reported $8 million offer, Ngannou turned it down.
The MMA fighter made it clear that his freedom would be curtailed, given that the contract would not place him as an independent contractor, thus removing any rights he may have had to make independent decisions.
In response, White did state that the UFC would never work with Ngannou again. And with that, White has dismissed the chances of the UFC and the PFL coming together to put on the biggest fight in MMA.
White Reacts
“I’m not interested in that. We tried to make that fight. They didn’t want to do it. It’s done. He doesn’t fight here anymore. I’m not interested. Should I [co-promote with PFL]? We’ve got one, two and three [largest gates in Madison Square Garden history], they can’t sell a f****** gate. It’s a stupid question. Why would I do that? I tried to make the fight here. They didn’t want to do it but I should co-promote with a Bellator or a PFL? Why should I do that? You win the dumb question of the night, congratulations sir,” White said
Despite this being the case, there is a willingness from Ngannou’s side to make the fight happen. His head coach, Eric Nicksick, called on both MMA organizations to get together to give the fanbase what they want.
Ngannou has shown that he was capable of bringing in a new audience, following his impressive performance against Tyson Fury on his boxing debut.
Despite losing on the scorecards via a unanimous decision, some in the boxing community gave him the win. And with a shortage of legitimate MMA fights that he can have in the PFL, Ngannou’s only big fight is with Jones.
Ngannou’s Coach
“In a perfect world, for me, I still want that Jon Jones fight. Hell yeah, I do. Just because I want to compete against the best and I think Jon is the best. I don’t want any more guesses about who is the baddest man on the planet. Let’s run it. Let’s do it. You can make that happen. Both sides can make that happen if they really wanted to. Set your egos aside , let’s get Allegiant Stadium [in Las Vegas], let’s give what the fans want and let’s get Jon and Francis and let’s see who the baddest man on the planet is,” Nicksick stated
Ultimately, if the financial numbers make sense, then there is a chance of seeing the fight get made. However, there may come a point where Jones has to walk away from the UFC to secure that fight.
