Crawford’s Trainer Mocks Spence’s Boxing, Bradley And Thurman React

Terence Crawford’s trainer, Brian McIntyre, has downplayed Errol Spence Jr.’s skills as ‘Bud’ stopped the ‘Truth’ in the ninth-round.
Crawford put on a performance that was befitting of an all-time great, as he dropped Spence three times in the fight, before putting him to the sword to become the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era.
And in the process of doing so, Crawford became undisputed in a second weight class following his feat at junior welterweight.
Prior to the fight, the perception was that Spence’s physicality, boxing fundamentals and volume punching would prove too much for the smaller Crawford.
Although that may have been the case, Crawford stood up and dictated the fight in all facets, including a stronger jab and defense, as he pushed Spence off him in the second round, showing his skills.
But for all of Bud’s skills, Bomac questioned Spence’s boxing.
Crawford’s Boxing Vs. Spence
“He’s basic. Remember in Spence’s last interview where he said he’s good at fundamentals, ‘I’m fundamentally sound?’ You can break that s**t apart, and then after the first round, he was slow as s**t.
“He’s got that will and determination, but if you keep going upside his head. He was slow. The counters were as fast as s**t, though. He was basic.
“Look at all of his fights. He starts with a jab, and he hardly brings his feet with him when he goes to the body. This is where he f***ked up. His legs were too far apart.
“So he would bring his height down, and when you bring your height down, you start reaching the fighter because your legs are too far apart. “His feet were slow, his movement was slow, and his hands were slow. So that just made work perfect,” Bomac
Ultimately, Crawford made Spence look ordinary which speaks volumes in light of the fact that the ‘Truth’ was the former unified welterweight champion. And there is no getting away from that.
Bradley Mocks Crawford’s Critics
Tim Bradley has hit out at his critics following Crawford’s win over Spence.
Bud created history by joining Claressa Shields, as a fighter to become undisputed in two different weight divisions.
Prior to the fight, Bradley backed Crawford to come out victorious, something which he was standing on ever since the talk emerged over the two fighters facing each other.
That drew Bradley a lot of criticism, especially since there were question marks over the caliber of opposition that Bud had faced.
And given that Bradley is one of mainstay boxing commentators, he received a lot of flack for his opinion.
But now that Crawford has gone down as an all-time great with that performance, Bradley wanted to silence those who doubted his own boxing expertise and predictions.
“Doubt me again. Doubt me again. Yep, all the hate. Everything y’all said about me. What did I say? What did I say? I told you. The greatest. They greatest. I know what I’m talking about. All you haters out there,” Bradley
Bradley’s prediction showed that he was one of the few, who put his neck on the line, in a a sport where very few speak their mind.
Thurman Praises Crawford
One man who did praise Crawford, though, was Keith Thurman. The latter made it clear that he was open to facing the winner of Spence-Crawford even though he has not been in the ring for over a year since his win over Mario Barrios.
However, Thurman is a man who knows a thing or two about boxing. After all, ‘One Time’ was a former unified welterweight champion himself, much like Spence.
And after having watched that performance, Thurman had nothing but good words to say about Crawford.
“The best man did his thing, man. Crawford, I knew he was crafty. I told everyone he was crafty. He got a new nickname, Crafty Crawford. He showed all that craftsmanship here tonight.
“The speed was too much. At 140 moving up, it happened to me and Pacquiao (in 2019), those little guys when they move up, [makes quick combination sounds] they bring all that speed, and Spence was just a little slow.
“That thing that he (Spence) does, that’s never been broken [is] ‘jab, jab, jab, body shot.’ ‘Jab, jab, body shot.’ It’s never been broken, ’til now. ’Til today, ’til tonight. Now the new undisputed champion of the world Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford, salute three times to you bro,” Thurman
Crawford, Spence and Thurman are at a crossroads when it comes to their careers. Crawford could easily walk away on a high, while Spence questions where he goes next.
As for Thurman, given that he is 34-years-old, the former world champion does not have much left in the game. Time will tell how the three fighters move forward.
