Crawford Will Beat Spence Again, Dubois’ Chances Against Usyk

Canelo Alvarez has backed Terence Crawford to beat Errol Spence Jr. once again if they square off at junior middleweight.

Crawford stopped Spence in the ninth round to become the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four belt era and became undisputed in a second weight class.

However, the ease in which Crawford secured the victory was surprising. Crawford dropped Spence three times in the fight. The latter had no answer to what Crawford was bringing.

In the aftermath of the fight, however, Spence indicated his desire to have a rematch at 154 with Crawford. In response, Crawford did not rule out such a thing.

Canelo On Crawford-Spence

“Hell yeah, we got to do it again. I’m going to be a lot better, and it’s going to be a lot closer. It’s probably going to be in December at the end of the year. Hopefully, at 154,” Spence

“It definitely doesn’t have to be at 147. I’m in the hurt business. 147 was kinda hard for me, too. I was already talking about moving up in weight and challenging (Jermell) Charlo, so 154 wouldn’t be out of reach,” Crawford said

However, for Canelo, the Mexican saw the same outcome transpiring once again.

“Crawford was the best man that night. If they fight again it’s gonna be the same thing. He’s a better fighter,” Canelo

Spence’s Next Steps After Crawford

This naturally begs the question: should Spence take the rematch? The failure to run things back would suggest that the ‘Truth’ acknowledges that he cannot get one over Crawford.

Although that may be the case, Spence does not have a lot to prove moving forward. He was the former unified welterweight champion and there are still other big fights out there for the star.

However, it is all a question of how long Spence desires to remain in the sport. After all, in a sport where a fighter’s health can change overnight, Spence has to recognize that.

The boxer has been through two car crashes and a one-sided beating at the hands of Crawford. So moving forward, he has to do what is best for his career, regardless of what others may have to say about it all.

Dubois Vs. Usyk

In contrast, Carl Frampton has opened up on Daniel Dubois’ chances of beating Oleksandr Usyk

The Brit will attempt to shock the world when he faces the unified heavyweight champion on August 26th, 2023, in Poland.

A victory for Dubois would secure his first world title, while a loss for Usyk would disrupt those plans for becoming undisputed.

The narrative coming into the fight is that Dubois is a massive underdog, who does not have a chance of winning, unless it is a puncher’s chance.

Although Dubois does possess knockout power, his performances in the past have been nothing to write home about.

His decision to take a knee against Joe Joyce raised question marks over his durability in the heavyweight division.

In addition, despite beating Kevin Lerena in his last fight, Dubois did hit the canvas three times. Therefore, to beat Usyk, who has never been defeated, will be a tall order.

And yet, Frampton has questioned the decision to write off Dubois completely.

“I think he’s been really unfairly written off.  The kid has a chance. If he [Usykl] uses all his energy up, he really has a chance. I don’t think Usyk will knock him out in one shot. If there’s one who can get knocked out in one single shot, it’s Usyk who can get knocked out by Daniel Dubois because he’s the puncher in the fight.

“Let’s get it on. No, no pressure. Pressure as far as the crowd, the media, and all of that, but anyway, that doesn’t even come into my head, It’s all about fighting and going out there, and let’s get it on,” Frampton

Usyk’s Pedigree

Nevertheless, Usyk’s power must not be underestimated. The Ukrainian has shown that he can systematically break down a fighter as the rounds go on.

Tony Bellew had questioned the Ukrainain’s power prior to their fight. However, Uysk went on to stop Bellew in the eighth round in front of his home fans.

While Usyk may not have shown that he has a one-punch-knockout in him, the heavyweight division can throw up many surprises. And it is ultimately the punches that you don’t see coming.

And yet, Dubois was feeling confident about his chances.

“As soon as the bell rings. I’m in fight mode now, but as soon as the bell ring, I really switch on. I really change. I turn the switch, and I’m ready to just go out there and take it, take titles, and take the belts.

“It’s putting a lot of things in. Don has got a lot of passion, and you feel that. I’ve been training with him, and he’s been very vocal,” Dubois
