Crawford Walks Out The Nebraska Huskers

Terence Crawford attended a college game for his hometown team, Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Crawford is one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. He is coming off a win against Israil Madrimov to become the WBA Junior Middleweight Champion. That victory made him a four-weight world champion, as he targets a fight with Canelo Alvarez at 168. While Crawford is one of the best boxers, his commercial value does not reflect that. Prior to his PPV with Errol Spence Jr., which sold around 700,000, his average PPV number was around 200,000.
But when it came to Crawford’s hometown, he had massive support. Crawford walked out to a sell-out of 86,906 at the Memorial Stadium as the Nebraska Cornhuskers took on the Colorado Buffaloes. He can be seen holding a belt as he walks out the Huskers. While it appeared to be a boxing belt, on closer inspection, it appeared to have the team’s logo.
Crawford’s Walkout
Crawford then ran out with the team, as the Nebraska Cornhuskers won the game to take their record to 2-0. The Huskers won 28-10 and avenged their 36-14 defeat from last season. Crawford celebrated the success in the following photo.

Crawford now faces a conundrum over what he does next. He is chasing the Canelo fight, who has shown a reluctance to take it. The Mexican first said he would not get any credit for beating a smaller fighter. However, Alvarez has suggested that the fight could happen. This all depends on the money that is put up. Eddie Hearn has suggested that Crawford could retire if he does not secure the Canelo fight.
“I don’t think Terence Crawford will ever fight again. I think unless he gets Canelo, I don’t think Crawford will fight again. He definitely won’t fight Virgil Ortiz, won’t rematch Madrimov. He made a lot of money and I think he’s comfortable, isn’t he?” Hearn
Crawford’s Future
A major stumbling block is whether Canelo can justify the fight ahead of David Benavidez. The Mexican Monster had been chasing the fight for over two years since he was the WBC Interim Super Middleweight Champion. But Benavidez moved up to 175 once he could not get the Alvarez bout.
Canelo wanted $200 million to take that fight, raising suggestions that he was pricing himself out. If Canelo does decide to pursue Crawford instead, Roy Jones Jr. has warned him over getting the game plan right. He felt Crawford had the boxing IQ to get the better of him, even if the weight class could prove a difference.
“Do I think Canelo can beat ‘Bud’? It’s a tough fight to call. I think his size may be his best going factor. But if he goes out and boxes ‘Bud’, he’s not gonna beat ‘Bud’ boxing. He’s not. So, if ‘Bud’ can take his punch, he’s not gonna out-box ‘Bud’. What will determine the fight will be who wants it most, and who has their fight plan… If ‘Bud’ can get Canelo to box him, ‘Bud’ will out-box him,” Roy Jones. Jr. stated
