Crawford Slams Teofimo's Racist Jibe - 'A Little Kid That’s Screaming'

Terence Crawford reacted to Teofimo Lopez’s racist jibe, stating that he would beat him in a fight.

Lopez has been chasing a fight with Crawford for some time after beating Steve Claggett in his last fight to defend his WBO Junior Welterweight Title. Crawford currently fights at 154 pounds as he beat Israil Madrimov in his last fight to get the WBA belt and become a four-division champ.

That would mean that Lopez would have to jump up two weight classes to make the fight happen. Crawford has shown a reluctance to take that fight since he is more focused on trying to make a lucrative bout with Canelo Alvarez at 168 pounds. Lopez offers nothing by way of belts at 154 pounds, while the same applies at 147, especially since Bud was the former Undisputed Welterweight Champion.

Teofimo ruffled a few feathers after his recent comments when he was asked who he would like to fight out of Crawford or Gervonta Davis. Lopez responded by stating that ‘whichever monkey wants to get the banana,’ raising serious question marks over his conduct. Crawford had a clash with Lopez at Canelo’s fight with Edgar Berlanga as the two crossed paths in the crowd. Bud has now said that he would beat him badly if they ever got in the ring.

Crawford On Lopez

“Teo is like the little kid that’s screaming for attention. Had me or Tank called him a racial slur, they would’ve been trying to cancel us, calling us racist; it would’ve been all over the news. The hatred that’s within always shows. That’s not something that’s just came out, that’s something that’s been inside that man that he was taught as a little kid. “[Teofimo is] disrespectful. He’s playing because he thinks everything’s a game. But he doesn’t understand I will beat the [stuffing] out of him,” Crawford said

What’s Next?

Nevertheless, Crawford has other big fights on the table. He is currently being linked with a fight against the WBO and WBC Junior Middleweight Champion Sebastian Fundora. Fandora defeated Tim Tsyzu to win the bells in a controversial split decision. It was controversial since Tszyu had suffered a cut above his hairline. Before this, he was dominating the fight. Tszyu was pouring with blood. But rather than his team stopping the fight, he continued until the final bell.

The Australian admitted that his vision was hampered throughout the fight. Once the fight ended, Errol Spence Jr. jumped into the ring to indicate his desire to fight Fundora. Reports indicated that Spence would fight Fundora in October. That never happened, as it was believed it could occur in January. Fundora is reportedly more interested in facing Crawford next than Spence. Crawford reacted to that, saying he would be confident in beating Fundora. This is due to rumours that he had been stopped in sparring by Madirmov. Given Crawford had beaten Madrimov, he backed himself against Fundora.
